Are these cut versions getting shorter because of copyright issues?

Yes. Generally it's a lot of trial and error getting them to pass. They start closer to 30% of the original, and then individual parts are removed as they are flagged as violating copyright. Some episodes allow for more of the original content as others, but what is and isn't allowed depends on many variants and is ultimately decided by an algorithm that can be... mysterious at best.
