You guys have gotten beyond the point where it becomes really easy to say too much about any particular episode if one isn't careful. I really don't want to ruin your sense of self-discovery with it. I'll just say that when you get to the end of it all and are looking back this episode is bigger than it seems the first time through. Things are introduced in it, some of them more obvious others incredibly subtle, that will really underscore how well thought out the series was when it was created. I'll go with that for now.

I think the fire master delivers a lot of wisdom even if Aang brushes it off. When he says to Katara that she is lucky, it's as if he regrets to have become so powerful, which is not a theme that has been considered in the show by any other character so far. I think it's a very interesting episode and the fights are great, especially the little bits of bending from the master. You can tell that his technique is very though out compared to other fire benders we've seen. He holds his stances and pays a lot of attention to his posture compared to other fire benders who just vaguely punch around. The clown Zhao should take a hint to up his game

I'm not crying, you're crying!

Something i really appreciate about this show is how they know that Aang and the others are still children. And the writers dont forget that. Also a thing why i love how they build every character and their development.

I think it’s interesting. To me all the bending styles can be be described as two parts. The material which is either physical and solid or ephemeral and temporary. And the way you interact with it either. Either hard quick solid or smooth flowing and gentle. Each of these are opposites. Take any bending and you will see that too of the others share one of these types and the opposite on the other. One one of the bending is the opposite on both. The avatar cycle of rebirth is also the order they should learn the elements in. So Aang is born into air and should learn water, earth then fire. Roku being born into fire would then learn air, water and last earth. It sets up patterns in the elements in relation to each other and the benders that I find Interesting. It’s not really talk about in the show too much just like the meaning of Aang’s Tattos. But Jong Jong kind of talks about it a little here. You always here people talk about what element they would like to bed but maybe they should think about this when making there choice as well as what the elements can do or be used for. Jong Jong hints here that being a bender effects the very essence of who you are. This show can be so very deep if you look into it. I love it but now I think I’m just rambling a bit so I will end it here. Love your reactions. Please keep them coming.

I think it says a lot about fire bending and fire benders that it is the one element that is actually created by the bender. Water benders bend already existing water, same with earth and air benders. But fire bending HAS to have an extreme amount of discipline just because you create it yourself and control it through your breath and will and techniques. It sends an interesting message that the most volatile element is one which is created by the bender and their choices rather than outside forces. Which is why they are the main antagonists, but also that good fire benders can be such a catalyst for change for the better. After all, fire can also be cleansing and a fresh start. It can bring warmth and rebirth and light. It's representative of the struggle within everyone... a choice you must make. To use your capabilities for good or evil.
