Blue continues her speech. "Way, way, way back when the Galactic Standard was unifying the species, they knew that diversity was the key." 

"But left unchecked, evolution based on everybody's home world would splinter the collective and we'd wind up too different to meaningfully interact or we'd all go to war against each other."

"They needed one standard to grow from and create the cosmic melting pot. That would allow everybody to evolve in their own ways but to have a common link so we wouldn't get TOO different."

"Humans would serve as the grand cosmic base of the evolutionary tree for all Galactic Standard species to grow from. Ensuring peace and co-advancement for all, or something along those lines. It was a while ago."
