Volume 1 Chapter 4: What? A New Character!?

Zzzz!

Two Voidrangers guarding the platform exit trembled and fell to the ground. Two elemental needles, made of lightning, had silently pierced the back of their necks, killing them instantly.

"Wow~~! Wende, you're amazing! You handled them so easily!" March 7th looked at Wende with sparkling eyes. 

She had intended to team up with Dan Heng to take them out one by one, but Wende had stepped forward and effortlessly dispatched the enemies with flying needles.

"No, no, it seems easy, but it’s all because I did a sneak attack."

Wende smiled at the cute March 7th.

Dan Heng, seeing Wende's impressive skill, was also slightly amazed. However, for some reason, the technique seemed familiar to him...

Dan Heng narrowed his eyes, watching the lightning needles dissipate along with the two Voidrangers. The sense of déjà vu grew stronger.

Looking at the sealed hatch in front of them, Dan Heng frowned.

"Hey! Is anyone there? Open the door for us!"

March 7th walked up to the hatch, first knocking hard on it, then standing with her hands on her hips, shouting towards the inside.

"March, this place might—"

Seeing March 7th shouting at the hatch, Dan Heng immediately realized this might attract Voidrangers. Just as he was about to stop her, the door actually opened!

Dan Heng: "..."

"Huh? What did you say, Dan Heng?"

March 7th looked puzzled at the expressionless Dan Heng.

"Nothing... let's go in."

Inside the compartment, several people wearing space station staff uniforms were discussing something with Dan Heng.

Dan Heng analyzed, rubbing his chin.

"That's right. Not only are there Voidrangers on this platform, but there are also many inside the support module. We're trapped here, waiting for rescue."

The platform staff member replied helplessly. He was only responsible for receiving visitors and had no combat abilities. The other staff members were all clerks, and couldn't be relied on for fighting either.

"In that case, isn't Himeko in great danger!?"

Dan Heng thought aloud, turning to the platform supervisor.

"Stay here and don't go out. We've cleared the enemies on this side of the platform, but there could still be stragglers."

"We understand."

Nodding to the supervisor, Dan Heng looked at Wende and March 7th, who were chatting, and reminded them.

"March, Wende, let's go. This attack on the space station doesn't seem simple."

The three continued deeper into the Herta Space Station.

Reality

A well-known uploader on AcFun (a popular streaming site), "Kakaya," was doing a live stream of the game's launch. As someone with access to the internal tests, he was already familiar with this well-crafted turn-based game and knew the early plotlines by heart.

"Ah, now it's time to choose a character! I'm definitely picking Stelle!"

Kakaya interacted with the chat while selecting the female protagonist, Stelle, and named the character "Kakaya."

Although he had seen the following cutscenes countless times, for the viewers' sake, he made sure to display all the subtitles and wait for them to finish before making any choices.

While the viewers were still speculating, Wende in the game world of Honkai: Star Rail looked at the unconscious gray-haired girl on the ground, feeling a surge of emotions.
