When you noticed that Spencer is still on crutches..... Matthew Gray Gubler blew out his knee out on the press tour for "200 Days of Summer" and had to have 3 surgeries to repair it. So, they had his character get shot in the first episode of the season and that allowed for crutches and him sitting a lot.
