The relationship between Derek and Hotch always cracks me up. It's conflictual but also so honest. I think Hotch respect and trust Derek more than any other member of the team, except maybe Rossi, and yet Derek is the one who is questionning and challenging him the most. He respects his honesty, Derek's the only one who always says what he thinks, even if Hotch is his boss. I love that duality, it's very well written. You could as easily imagine Hotch giving his team to Derek as watch them getting into a fist fight XD And yes Derek has huge trust issues, but at the end of the day he would give his life for anyone on this team.

I would like to ask, why give the wife a (lesser) sentence to her husband. I believe that every conspirator in a crime should receive the same sentence. Unless there were circumstances like one turning witness to prevent the others from continuing. I would even say the wife is worst in this situation since the kids seem to revolve around her. I doubt the guy would've bothered with them or tried to create them if not for her influence. He also didn't kill anyone before the kids (that we know off) so it could be the wife wanting the real mother gone so she can take that spot (this is a theory, granted)

The wife has terminal cancer and is on the verge of death... She cant even get anywhere close to the same sentence because of that fact. She will live the rest of her days in a hospital death bed. That detail is the key detail.
