Dorm Env progress + some other stuff! (Patreon)

We've been making some progress with dorms, adding detail and furniture etc. The Dormitory buildings contain a bunch of sub-environments, you guys who played the test build at the start of the month probably noticed all the rooms were empty ;_; But we're going to tackle these one by one, and hopefully we'll have a new updated test build this month with the Kitchens, Bathrooms and Toilets, Utility room and Recreational area completed (or at least more completed than empty rooms) 

We've been working on the Kitchen this past week, and this is some of our progress:

We're aiming for ULTIMATE intractability in VR for all the sub-enviros in the Dormitory environment, including the ability to use most of the appliances (in the future) for minigames, the ability to open cupboards and drawers, and the ability to open washer / dryers and whatever else has hinge-based mechanisms. 

We've also added trim, skirting, and dual-wall color to every room and corridor, making everything feel a bit more legitimately architectural. 

Since there are 3 floors on each building, we designed an instance-able material to control floor, ceiling, wall colors, the vertical position of the wall color division, door frames and trim color. This means we can easily change the color of individual rewms and corridors to break it up a little, to give each floor and building a different feel. The Corridor carpet pattern is also done this way, so the final Dorm environment should feel quite dynamic!

It's a little bit boring right now, it's way more useful to us rather than you guys, but we thought we'd make it public incase anyone is bored enough to check out what we're up to specifically. The things in Late Development are what we're doing right now. Trello has some interesting features like the aiblity for community to vote on things to increase their priority. I don't think we have a big enough community for that yet, but we could experiment with having it more community-involved if there's an interest.
