Chapter 58

"Ugh…" Julis slowly opened her eyes; she tried to sit up without even looking, but at that moment, her hand touched the surface of the tree branch.

*Painful Hiss*

"Shhh, don't move that much, relax, I am here." Hearing Alex's words, the pink-haired girl relaxed and looked at him.

"We left the boulder area?" She asked him as there was a gap in her memory.

"You killed that rhino and passed out." He reminded her what happened.

"...Oh…"

A few scenes flashed through her mind. She remembered throwing a massive fireball and impaling the rhino with a compressed fire spear.

"...For a moment, I thought I broke the Sacred Gear." She sheepishly looked at him.

"Don't worry. Those gears are not that easy to break."

"Hmm, good to hear." She was relieved to hear that. The pink Princess was sure that she had flipped when that rhino thing landed a hit like that.

The scene of small rocks slamming into her flashed through her mind. Julis lifted her hands and looked at them.

A grimace appeared on her pristine face.

"...They look ugly. These marks, I mean." Part of her is terrified that Alex would look less at her because of these wounds.

"My Julis looks beautiful no matter what." He stroked her cheek; there was a cut on it.

Her eyes widened briefly before a slight blush appeared; she was embarrassed to hear that. This 'attack' was a surprise.

"...you…still able to make me embarrassed like that. I thought I developed some protection against you."

The Pinkette sounded resigned in a good way.

"Please. When need be, I can always embarrass you."

This time, she rolled her eyes. The girl didn't argue with him. That's a waste of energy.

"...And don't worry. I got some scar-minator tickets. You will look like you visited a spa centre and not a dungeon."

"Right, that APP with a horrendous name." She recalled that it indeed existed. It has been a while since they needed it.

" I guess I must retract the comment about the app's name. But I still think it's a scam that you must pay 100 tickets for one scar." it's pretty apparent how that omnipotent being is ribbing Alex off.

"That's fine." He stroked her cheek while saying that.

"As long as it heals your scars, it's fine~."

Once again, she blushed at his comments.

"...Ugh…we can flirt as much as you like once we are out of this dreadful place."

"...sure…by the way."

He summoned a blue card and handed it over to her to look at it.

"...This is? You did a spin with a rare ticket?" She looked curious as she saw the colour of the card.

"Three spins more precisely." He nodded at her question.

"So you got Pyrokinesis…"

"Blade Blacksmith and a Sacred Gear Remover as well." He told her all the stuff he got.

"...I see."

"You can have the Pyrokinesis. It should help you develop more towards manipulation of fire." Alex softly explained while holding her close. He can see that she is struggling to accept it.

It is just so like Julis that it makes him sometimes annoyed how she doesn't like getting things from him.

"Think of this as a gift to my adorable girlfriend."

She sighed once more when she heard his tease.

"...Fine. But this is just so that you would worry less about me. It's my job to worry about you. Not the other way around." She joked while squeezing the card.

"Whatever you say~" He kissed her forehead, making Julis pout internally. He wasn't serious about what she just said! Which made her somewhat annoyed.

Julis used the rare card given to her, and she finally got the means to create fire by using her mind. In a sense, she became an Esper now.

Mixed with fire created by her mana, she could potentially do the same as her boyfriend did. Synchronising two flames to create a more devastating fire.

And that's without using her Sacred Gear, which also makes fire!

That gives her three sources of fire.

Now, the only thing she needs is time to develop it.

The pair continued to travel towards the safe house. Julis wanted to leave the dungeon and rest for a bit. Sleeping in a dungeon doesn't work like sleeping in the real world.

Alex had never slept in the dungeon before. According to Julis, it feels similar to sleeping next to military barracks or something like that.

As if someone is sharpening a sword's edge next to their sleeping form, this place doesn't allow one to rest. It made Julis nearly jump on her feet when she regained consciousness.

Such restlessness is why they decided to finish the remaining two bosses the next day.

And the teen didn't mind finishing the dive. He wants to check out Divine Dividing in Balance Breaker anyway.

But it's mostly because his cute girlfriend wants to fix her scars. He knows her well enough. The pinkette seeks to return to her original looks just for him.

When the pair and one dragon returned to the safe house, they went to bed immediately.

"...Ugh… it feels so strange…" Julis complained as she looked at her hands. They had burn marks. It immediately started to hurt the moment she opened her eyes. The burn marks are touching the bed sheets, and it makes her body feel that pain.

"One second." Alex got his phone and swiftly used the Scar-minator app.

Using one ticket, he healed her scars inflicted by the Rhino of Black Iron.

"...Much better~" She leaned forward and kissed her boyfriend before standing up from the bed.

"I shower first and then make breakfast for you~ do you want anything?" She asked him with a smile.

"...Anything is fine."

She nodded at him and walked out of the room.

While she did that, Alex got up and pulled out an empty paper; it was time to upgrade his stats.

Mentally, he operated the Falna power, and his back glowed briefly. After the stats update, he cuts his finger with a small mana construct.

A drop of blood landed on the paper, and letters manifested on it, showing his stats.

'Well, your witch killed that Rhino. By all means, she is level two.'

After checking the stats, Alex waited for Julis to finish her shower; he then went in himself.

Around ten minutes later, he was dressing up in Kuoh's uniform.

Once dressing up was done, he went to the kitchen and turned on the TV.

Thankfully, this time, they were around a couple of months inside that place, and none of them even had a migraine or anything like that.

It was a smooth morning, by all means.

'I still have this feeling something is going to happen.'

"Done~"

The White Dragon Emperor looked at the table; it was American-style pancakes.

Puffy pancakes with jam and some slices of bananas on the side.

"That was quick."

"Hehe! Of course!" She lifted her finger as fire was dancing on top of her finger.

"You have no idea how easy it is to control fire now." Pinkette sounded extremely happy with her new way of controlling fire.

"Glad to hear that you like it."

"Yep! Now, let's eat!"

"That's a Pokemon move. It even does similar stuff. But in your case, you pass out. We could train this move more, and you wouldn't pass out. What do you think, Albion?"

Alex ignored his girlfriend's outburst and instead asked his dragon.

'...Hmm? You were saying?'

'What are you even doing?'

'Oh, I've been watching Fate Zero. That blonde sure is arrogant. Not to our level, but quite close.'

A deadpan look appeared on Alex's face.

'I was saying that Julis unlocked a new skill, which boosts her fire powers for the price of rapidly lowering her mana reserves. I think we should train more.'

'Sounds good.'

"Alex! Are you listening!?"

"...Of course I am!" He gently took his girlfriend's hand as he proceeded to calm her down; he would deal with his silly dragon later!

"Now, let's go to school. We are going to be late."

"...Fine."

As the pair entered the school grounds, Sona and her 'Queen' were already there.

The pair sweetly smiled at the couple.

Alex felt goosebumps going through his spine. He felt like a prey.

It appears the devils decided to change their tactics.

'Well, I still have Falna. I can use it as a means to control the situation.'

"Good morning, you two. It appears you got stronger once again." Sona commented as she looked at Alex from top to bottom; she could feel some unique layer around him.

Same with Julis, it's as if they are 'building' something around themselves.

This time around, the pinkette's 'fire' was also more intense. Did Julis achieve some sort of Balance Breaker?

"Yes. We did get stronger. You could say we passed a hurdle." Alex smoothly confirmed.

"...Great. We can talk about this more once classes are over. What do you think?"

"...I guess."

Julis, sensing that Sona changed her approach to this, grabbed Alex's hand and proceeded to pull him towards school.

Once the pair were away, Sona fixed her glasses as there was a certain glint in her eyes. It appears all she needed to do was be a little sweeter, and he would be more open.

Or is it his dragon nature? Divine Dividing doesn't come without its faults. One becomes more dragon once the gear gets active.

And it's not a mystery that dragons are lustful by nature. Either lust for battle or desire for power, regardless, it's a dragon trait.

Once such a trait ends up in human hands, it usually lusts towards females.

It's something she can arrange.

"...He has grown quite powerful overnight."

"...He did. I don't think anyone in this town is his match. And it hasn't even been a month." Sona replied with a thoughtful look.

"Then we shall continue with the plan?"

"Of course. I have my sister's permission. It's more like an order. I am sure that Azazel will do something similar as well." The Sitri Heiress frowned while saying that.

The girl is confident that Alex got Azazel involved because of her and Ria's pressure on him. The Fallen Angel is supposed to lower the pressure. Which, in a sense, did. They are now 'desperate'.

Well, Rias is desperate. Alex will be surprised just how far Rias is willing to go.

"...Well, I would also be desperate if I had marriage hanging above my head. Alex offers time, a commodity rarer than any Sacred Gear." Sona's 'Queen' commented with a knowing look.
