In this Die Shrink 60, Tom first breaks down how his coverage has changed over the past few years, and then transitions into a recent discussion Tom had on Semiconductor Insiders with Daniel Nenni, and then closed the episode with some final thoughts.  Subjects of discussion include the importance of a good CEO, the expected longevity of AMD’s dominance, and why GPUs are becoming a commodity like RAM.

Excited to listen to this one!

Really Good stuff, Tom. Insightful reflection on the reactionary tech youtube scene too. You've carved a nice niche among PC enthusiasts who know enough to know how little they know lol

"The PC Enthusiasts who know enough to know how little they know" - yep, that's a good way of putting it. I mean it's obvious I think - I have become more subdued and less arrogant over time...it's because I have continued to learn not only how little I actually know, but also how complex the decisions made in this market are. AMD doesn't just "raise prices because they are evil" - they are trying to make sure they have enough money to never fall behind again...and apparently gamers will pay more! Nvidia didn't halt production in Q4 just to jack up prices, it's also because they know those cards won't ship on time for the holidays anyways. Unfortunately it's both a little shady, but also good business for them to just prepare for bigger Q1....

Nice shots fired at NAAF and his little buddy GOG boy. Used to listen there podcast fairly regularly but honestly there lack of knowledge and insight is becoming far to off putting. Not just on tech but every aspect of life, those guys just ain't smart. I learn nothing when i watch their videos, and haven't in a long time. You however Tom, are the complete opposite, as my knowledge has grown, so has yours, so even now I'm still learning new things every time i listen your podcast, especially the guest episodes. Even times when i don't agree with your opinion, i still respect it, and understand how you logically came to your conclusion. Which is certainly not the case for some of those short sighted shouty youtubers...
