With so many GPUs this year not reaching their MSRP, and on the cusp of the launch of the $1000 6900XT - we talk about what makes one decide (or not decide) an expensive GPU is worth the money.

This isn't strictly about price/performance either - there are many reasons one might decide to "treat yourself", or conversely that it is just silly to splurge this much on any single component. This was a Die Shrink dedicated to discussing what makes something expensive "worth it.”

Loved the comment about having cars as a hobby. That hobby sucks unless your rich and your hobby car isn't your daily driver. I went down that road all that happens is brokeness and sadness.

Believe it or not i was a gamer years ago and thanks to things like the retropie and youtubers I got my itch back. My Sandybridge was the last thing I built until I dropped into MLID and build my R-7 2700x with its RX580x and 32GB ram. Its all your fault Tom and Dan. I will do another upgrade to the R-5900x but im not quite retiring the RX-580x yet. Like you said RDNA3 is just around the corner and im in no rush. Besides by them Radeon ray tracing will be alot better by then and perhaps by then it will finally be compelling to retire the 580x.
