Let’s get serious with Vellum and create this cat foil balloon inflation simulation from start to finish.

We will start by importing a PSD file and tracing it in Houdini. By triangulating the typology, we prepare the object for simulation with Vellum.

We explore different grouping methods to set selections for stitches and folds.

Hi Roland, I am trying to use my PSD file, but Houdini does not show anything. I tried with yours, and it works. I am not sure why the file I have created doesn't.

Difficult to analyze from you description. Maybe alpha channel

Hi Roland, the "trace psd file" node doesnt show for me. i have the apprentice version of houdini, is that the problem? or is it a plugin i need to install?

The photoshop file you included isn't doing anything like you show in the video. It won't make an outline of the object, it singles out the object into multiple shapes (like feet etc) no matter the setting. Tried extracting your PNG's separately and making black mask layers for them to help the software identify edges. But it won't. Is there a reason the photoshop file is V2? How do we overcome these problems? Is there a part of your course that shows how to put 2d objects onto 2d layouts that will fit the pictures correctly? Thanks!

It should work with the Labs Trace PSD file node. Labs must be installed. I will take a look at it when I am back at the office.

Hey there, yes i think your PSD called cat_vs2 is not the same that you are using on the video. So the problem is that the "cat_front" layer is not on the right axis and pivot, and that it looks impossible to make it one single outline with the brightness settings. Then when you put the front quickshade it's not in the right position. I thinks it might be that the cat_vs2.psd is your final psd used for uv's but not the original one you used in the first place, which is why the cat is not centered in cat_front layer . Any way to get the original psd please ?

That makes a lot of sense. Now I understand the problem. I forgot to add the right psd. I updated the zip. It´s now included in the download.
