Comic Report #65.2 - Family Reunion (Patreon)

Hello!  Here's the textless version of the next page!  It's pretty late right now but I want to get this page finished and posted before I sleep so I'm gonna be quick with the text post.

One of the big things I mentioned I was struggling with was how to render a nice daylight sky. I think during this phase the approach I'm going to try taking is something stylized- you can see in some panels where I have a skyline background, rather than individually render clouds I put in a big light shape low on the horizon, like low clouds, so I could put a darker light-grey above them.  I feel like this can help me keep everything looking bright as well as provide a brighter backdrop for buildings compared to if I did darker sky low to the horizon and put white clouds higher up, which lets me get more contrast and more pop.

I'm really happy to be able to bring all these characters back.  A post-apoc kind of setting can end up fairly lonely, but I feel like I've been able to hit a tone of genuine companionship and community here, like everyone knows each other and they're all happy to be living together.  I feel good making this page, and I'm excited to work on the pages to follow.

For now I'm gonna jump back and get the lettering done and put this page online before I go to bed.  Thanks for sticking with us into the 600s!  I'm excited to see where this comic goes together.
