Admittedly, it has been difficult finding appropriate comic book stories that feature animated characters from the East Coast for the month of October (not counting Casper the Friendly Ghost). This story, featuring Paul Terry's screwball magpies Heckle and Jeckle, is an adaptation of The Hitch Hikers, released December 1947. Its credited artist, Connie "Conrad" Rasinski, directed the original cartoon, and it's possible he submitted the art for the story just as it was put into theaters—its comic book counterpart was published June 1948. (Incidentally, the cartoon was the first Heckle and Jeckle that Jim Tyer animated, shortly after he was hired at the studio.)
