Seeing you go through a confusing emotional rollercoaster ride with Shen Wei's face in his meet-cute with Zhao Yunlan reminded me of how incredible Zhu Yilong's microexpressions are. I remember FEELINGS roiling off this otherwise stoic-looking professor and that's when I was hooked! Thanks again Brittany for reacting to this AND Strangers from Hell this week. What a treat!

Looking forward to rewatching Guardian!! Btw all the weird aliens/mutants stuff is because they weren't allowed to show ghosts and other supernatural creatures at the time.... the novel is an entirely different genre!

I love that you are immediately drawn to Zhao Yunlan, because I was immediately seized in the first frames of the story by Shen Wei! Shen Wei's wardrobe is stunning because most of it is Zhu Yi Long's own bespoke clothes. The show was able to ease their wardrobe budget because a lot of the actors used their own clothes. After you finish the series, please be sure to check out canary3d-obsessed's Shen Wei Serving Lewks series, it is hilarious! I am so very very much looking forward to your next reactions! :)

So the titels of each episode are kinda hilarious or have some interesting trivia in them! They are one of my favorite things in this show so I would like to share them with you each week :D. Episode 1: Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong sing a song of good and evil against all odds together. ( BTW Bai Yu is Chief Zhao Zhu Yilong is Professor Shen) Episode 2: Zhao Yunlan fancily investigates (literally:tests the bottomline) of Shen Wei

I literally forgot how Much they give us in the first episode! They tell us so many things, oh my lord. The moment you clocked who the Black Cloaked Envoy was was hilarious. And hey! Zhao Yunlan doesn't recognise that lower half of the face and we *know* he's been lookin'

Shen Wei's "hidden" longing looks and Zhao Yunlan's checking out the merch on the hot professor ❤❤❤ Loved your reaction and was laughing so hard when you finally realized that Shen Wei and the Black Cloak Envoy are the same person 😂😂😂 it really was "it's the same actor" all over again 😂😂😂 Be prepared for all the unsubtle flirting, I mean we already had the "do you have a wife/girlfriend" and the "after this let's have dinner, my treat - no, my treat" conversations. I love that you love all the other team members as well. Really, this show is made as fantastic as it is by these characters and their interactions. :D

Oh your reaction when you realized that the Black-Cloak Envoy was Shen Wei was priceless! No need to feel bad though, Zhao Yunlan doesn’t seem to have clocked it yet—and he is both head of an elite special investigation department and very *professionally* invested in memorizing the contours of Shen Wei’s cheekbones (cough, cough). Shen Wei’s performance of being A Normal Human Being, Nothing to See Here just gets better and better (or maybe worse and worse?) as the show goes on looooool.

i don't know if anyone has told you this, that Guardian and Word of Honor based on the books from the same author named Priest. she's quite famous that many of her works already got adaptations (live action, donghua, manhua, etc) and they have wide range of genre. i've read 3 books and on my 4th now and i love her ship dynamic on each books. there are 3 drama from her books as well that i've anticipated greatly but will never know when they will see the light since the regulations in China became even more stricter. Sha Po Lang (costume drama, steampunk), Mo Du (modern times, crime), and Shan He Biao Li (contemporary fantasy).

Ep2.. What are we clocking? Scraped arm. Shen Wei wants to heal the arm, his first instinct. Like he healed his own shoulder. I'm guessing he can't expose himself. Too good, that you're catching those subtle looks.

Chu Shuzhi aka Lao Chu~still my favorite character in this show (minus the two main leads ofc). I'm really looking forward to future reactions! Plus, something really dumb happened to me today- I dislocated my knee and spent the afternoon in the hospital, so coming home to watch this made my night!

OMG....you started already! It has been awhile since I have seen this, so I am gonna jump on this ride with you! Have fun! When I first started watching it, I had a strong Doctor Who vibe with the cheesy, yet can-be-super-serious, story sci-fi mysteries with little moral reveals.

Excited to see you react to this ridiculous but fun show! As much fun as the sci fi ness is, it is sad that censorship had to completely change the genre from the original book (mythology, ghosts, gods, etc) because the gov was super anti-superstition at the time. It really ransacked the plot and logic of the show (its all ALIENS~~~) but its admirable how they worked through those obstacles as much as they could.

Ohh the fact that the grandma saw her granddaughter almost taking those pills and then taking those pills herself in a moment of clarity because she doesn’t want to be a burden to her anymore 😭 That reveal broke my heart a little bit. Going to a much happier place, however: I’m glad you’re loving the guys! Shen Wei and his micro expressions/mysterious vibe on the one hand and Zhao Yunlan and his mannerisms/humour on the other. This being based on a Priest novel, you know you are in for a wild ride - especially when it comes to the character development (and relationship development!) between the guys. It’s what I loved most about Word of Honor as well. Oh, and you are definitely not the only one eyeing the potential of a sideship with ‘Big Grumpy Guy’ and ‘Small Precious Boi Who Would Rather Be Somewhere Else At This Point’. 👀

Lmao when the realization hits 🤣 I was waiting to see if you'd notice it. It took you a lil but you didn't disappoint. God, I still can't get over the parallels between Shen Wei &amp; Zhao Yunlan and the girl and her grandma, when she was talking about how that person looked exactly like her grandma, but spoke and acted like a different person. 👀 I'm just sayin' ..... like I keep on seeing it more and more with each watch and it's just breaking my heart. And the little glances SW throws to ZYL make me melt. Him just saying he would basically exchange his life for the person he cares about if he could (hmm I wonder who that could be 🤔). I was really waiting for that moment when you realised Shen Wei and Black Cloak Envoy were one. I wont lie, Shen Wei rocks the superman/Clarke Kent thing really well. Damn, but i just can’t wait to see your reaction to the next few episodes [all the episodes) and have your thinky thoughts. I'm a little late to the party but I made it! I won't have much to comment during this series because I'll be right there with you watching it for the first time, but I'm excited! Being able to hear your thoughts about an episode and reading everyone else's comments make the experience much more intensive. I did clock Shen Wei's Clark Kent thing in episode 1, with the timing of him going off the roof and Black Cloak Envoy appearing just a few minutes later, but I'm not that good with faces so I wasn't sure I guessed right until episode 2. Your reaction to that was priceless! Alright, I'd better get started on this week's episodes...
