Can we talk about chapter 9? Like, I could do a whole video on the interaction between Wei Wuxian and Lan Sizhui in this chapter. I don't want to spoil, or go in on it, but it makes me super emotional because MXTX is a master at giving you details without realizing you're getting details.

Also, note to the translations. The video has the older translation of Lan Zhan, which is accurate but doesn't convey the 'meaning' of his name. Azure Blue is the direct translation but the intention of the name is to call him 'without impurities', as an Azure Blue is a perfect, pure color of a cloudless sky, or clear water of an undisturbed lake.

One thing confuses me: Wen does not mean sun, but rather "warm water" in ancient chinese, and just "warm/gentle" in modern chinese. But if the translators translated the whole book, they should know something this basic... Same thing goes for a footnote in the next chapter, Sunshot Campaign was so named because the Wen family crest is the sun, not because the name means sun.

I love reading MXTX’s descriptions of LWJ because they’re usually from WWX’s point of view and are…very telling. While I appreciate and enjoy Wang Yibo’s portrayal of LWJ (his microexpressions in particular), it doesn’t fit my own imagining of LWJ in the novel. Without giving spoilers, the best way I can describe it is that LWJ in CQL is a twink, and LWJ in the novel is a twunk, lol. But also, I agree that Bian Jiang’s voice acting for LWJ slaps. Thank you for the react…I’m very, VERY much looking forward to the next few chapters!

I will take that info back to my translation crew. I think everything with the Wen clan got left behind. Wen Ning's first name got retranslated by us but not his surname or the Sunshot Campaign part.
