man i forgot they put fucking YANLI'S THEME over that scene. how DARE they. this ep really is painful to watch. but i see a lot of people saying that yanli being there is a stupid/cheap plot device (you know, Man Pain), but personally i think it makes a lot of sense because right then she cares about wei wuxian and getting him to calm down. on SEVERAL occasions previously we saw that she was the only one who could do that, even when lan wangji couldn't or struggled to. also tbh i think a grief stricken person would make some illogical choices in any case, understandably. :( :( :(

This is just, the hardest episode ever. Just nothing nice happens. Like, you get to this episode, and you know all of the happened because of the first two episodes, but its still so hard to see it. And you're so attached to everyone now, 30 episodes later, that you just want to cry. I've watched this show through several times and it still makes me bawl.

This is so painful, and yet it has my favourite Wei Wuxian line, when the despicable Clan Leader Yao and co. tell WWX how much they admired him in the past and shit, and WWX just points out how he never saw them then, but now they just attack him without giving him the benefit of the doubt: "How cheap your admiration was!" And Xiao Zahn just nails that performance.
