I've been braced for it since the second episode, yet it still caught me off guard.

So, you know how John is wine? You might wanna power him up to vodka next episode? Just.... maybe.... you don't have to of course, but.... God I can't wait. I know you literally posted this reaction 20 minutes ago, but the next episode is so good and so bad.

Since this will be one of the things people will want to tell you- if you want to remember who Su She is, go to episode 11 around 26:30 into it. That will remind you. If you don't want to remember, thats ok as well.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw the notification popping up! This is the best thing to ever happen this week! Do you remember the "puppet" they showed the first time lwj took wwx to see his uncle and brother for punishment? The Lan disciple who had those marks on his neck and face? That was a person whose spiritual cognition had been stolen and was being controlled by somebody else. Something like that happened to Wen Ning. It's like he lost a bit of his soul.

Don't worry about not remembering who Su She is. Most people I know seem not to remember the first time watching this. As for what happened to Wen Ning, the confusion is more from them trying to get around the "no undead" censorship thing -- in the book he is literally a ferocious corpse, he very explicitly did die. Since they couldn't do that in the drama they added enough bits about him still being alive and just it being his spiritual cognition affected to give them plausible deniability.

In other translations Popo means more like grandmother than madam. So madam is really Grandma Wen

You wanted to know what happened to Wen Ning - in one word, censorship. They tried their best but since you aren't allowed to have ghosts, or corpses or anyone undead, the drama writers and producers did their best to try and stick close to the intent of the story but on the right side of censorship. Some things they just didn't even try to deal with, but Wen Ning is such an important character that they had to find a way to include his story journey and I think it's a lot more confusing because of that.

I'm happy how you acknowledge that everyone is doing, or trying to do, the right thing, but that those things are clashing and that's where the drama comes from. That, and the fact that none of these people know how to communicate properly. Ugh I love them all so much.
