Okay! I now have every single character completely voiced but one. With the help of a casting friend, I was able to find a really good voice match for the character that was slated to return and have completed the session with that person. It actually sounds veeery close to the original voice of the character, but I think fans with a good ear will be able to tell the difference. Nonetheless, their inclusion completes the scene the way it was meant to be played out.
The last voice actor I need currently has the flu. Unfortunately, that character is the most pivotal in the entire episode, and I need their lines to complete everything. Until then, I'm working with all the other voices I have to complete the big picture. I actually have one scene complete and a few close to completion timing-wise. Very fortunately for me, it seems that the episode length is not 1 minute of runtime per 1 script page as I'd originally feared. Based on what I currently have, I'm guessing the episode is going to run just over 30 minutes, but it's hard to say for sure just yet.
I've also currently found a really dedicated 3D artist to take care of all the difficult set stuff I was dealing with earlier, and they seem to be doing an excellent job so far. They're a bit more expensive, but they're doing great, thorough work. I've no doubt that all the sets are going to turn out exactly how I need them.
I now have everything necessary to complete the "Two Episodes Left" short. It is currently being animated and going though a mixing pass with my sound editor. I'm in the very early stages of animating it, but it's extremely short, so I can likely get it all out fairly quickly once I get on a roll. Some of the voice work for that took a little more time than expected to get everything right, so I'm not sure I can release it this week, but certainly in the beginning of June.
At this time, I'm currently juggling doing animation for that short and lining up all the voices in just the right order. I have no doubt that in June I will have all the voices I need and will start the blocking pass for the 3D animation. This month has been ALL about voice and directing for me, and I'll soon be ready for the character animation process to take over my life. Given how great the performances were in the voice sessions, I'm very excited to do so.
