This whole Ukraine crisis started because Ukraine wanted closer trade ties with the EU and ousted their Russian puppet president. Russia got pissed about that and decided to start supporting separatist movements in and annexing territory from Ukraine. This is why I don't get how Paul says the West giving Ukraine defensive support is imperialism. This whole thing was started by the people of Ukraine deciding for themselves they don't want to align with Russia, but the West

Daniel

Because, dumb dumb, having the US arm and support the Ukraine is a waste of resources and turns into a proxy war between the US and Russia. It doesn't matter who started what with who. Why is it that you infantile leftists decry the US supporting apartheid Israel but jizz yourselves when it enters into direct conflict against an ideological opponent? Let Russia and the Ukraine destroy themselves. It's not the US's place to get involved.

Jeez, you’re an angry little man. I was actually addressing the point Paul made where he said the US giving Ukraine defensive support is imperialism. If you want to have a civilized discussion about wasted resources or the risk of a proxy conflict I’m open to that as well. On the proxy war, yes it is a proxy war. Russia made it a proxy war when they invaded Ukraine for simply wanted to align with the west. At that point the west had to intervene or set the example that people that try to align with them will be attacked by Russia with 0 support. On the wasted resources. We already spend almost a trillion a year on the military, I would say spending a small fraction of that, for an actual useful goal, isn’t especially wasteful in comparison.

Paul, I've legitimately being saying to my friends we need to revoke the statehood of the entire South and nobody agrees with me. Then again, I live in the one state not exactly known for it's high IQ: Alabama.
