Before I forget, I'll answer your first question: Hannibal WAS cancelled early (there was supposed to be 7 seasons--and there is still a chance of it getting picked up since the entire cast and crew are on board, we just need someone to... pick it up)--however,, SAYING that, they knew there was a chance of getting cancelled and so the s3/series ending is actually absolutely amazing as both a season final and a series final, so no worries about that.

So yes your right, Hannibal was implied to be the copy cat killer, garret jacob Hobbs was the person who killed the 8 girls, you can tell by how the murders were carried out like Will says, Hannibal killed that girl in a way that was mocking her compared to how Hobbs was killing them how he loved them. As Hannibal said as well how he “could help Will see his face” that’s what he meant by that killing her in a totally different way to show Will the true motives of Garret Jacob Hobbs Hannibal = copy cat Garret Jacob Hobbs = Minnesota Shrike hope that helps clear it up lol I think this is such a great first ep especially how important it is to the entire plot. Don’t want to go in to much because there is lots of fun to look forward to! ❤️

Yes you are right: Hannibal was the copycat-killer. At least that is how I understood it. We know that the father was the cannibal from the first 8 girls. I just thought it was Hannibal when we first learned that the killer was a cannibal. I like that they tricked us a bit. I think this show is very well written. After watching this first episode I gathered that Hannibal was the copycat-killer and maybe he did it to see how Will's mind work. Like testing him maybe? Will said: "It's like he had to show me a negative so that I could see the positive. That crime scene was practically gift-wrapped" I look forward rewatching the rest of this show. It has been so long that I can't remember anything - at least not from this first season. Only like the main plot-line of cause. Hannibal seems to be very interested in learning about Will and how he thinks. At least he asks a lot about Will's procces.

Oh and I just love Mads Mikkelsen in this role. I think he is such a great actor. In Denmark he often plays such funny charachters. But I aslo looove him as a villain. He is also the villain in James Bond. I think maybe his danish accent is helping? His brother however is probably my most favourite actor; Lars Mikkelsen. He has also starred in som big international films and series.

Im so excited! I stopped watching around Season 2 purely because of life and have been meaning to start it again as I’ve forgotten things. It’s an incredible story from my recollection. I love these actors.

Really excited for Hannibal reactions, it’s one of my favourite shows of all time. This first ep is great at establishing our main characters, character work is something this show really excels at. Also it’s visually stunning. Looking forward to more reactions.

Hannibal is in my top 10 TV shows of all time. And it is quite possibly the most beautiful. The first two seasons are near perfection. Season 3 has some minor issues, and so doesn't quite rise to the same level as season 1 (or the insane season 2), but it is still great. Hannibal was "The Shrike" killer of the girl in the field. If you remember, they were talking about how her lungs were removed while she was alive and then they cut to Hannibal butchering and cooking a pair of human sized lungs. Hannibal's motivations add to the mystery of the show. He does have some rules and interests beyond merely killing and consuming people. Figuring those out is part of the fun. :) The episode titles of each season tend also to be culinary related. Season 1 is French cooking. Season 2 is Japanese. Season 3 is Italian.
