Empires Alien Doodles! (Patreon)

Some of my aliens in the "proper" science-fiction setting of the universe! These designs were, at one time, "finalized" but before I go back and re-launch everything I want to carefully consider them again. There may be minor tweaks made, there may not. I like the above guys, the Kreen, If I change them much I will probably de-emphasize some of the more "animal like" features. Or say that this was a ancient/primitive version during evolution.

The Q'Aab have already been changed somewhat since I drew this doodle; notably to de-emphasize some of the animal features. The thing is, I always intended the aliens to have features of different animals because one of the ideas I had for Empires was simply that other creatures besides apes achieved sentience and evolved. It was one of the reasons why it was so easy for me to change the aliens to "furries" in the first place.

However, when I went back to start redo the aliens as aliens, I realized that the "furry" look was hard to get out of my mind and it kept creeping back into the imagery I was attempting to make. I've learned a bit more about evolution over the years and began to question some of the assumptions I had made back when I was doing these sketches. So there will probably be more work to be done , and more development doodles on the way. 

Another large alien, the Ghuun'akh'shaa. I already featured one of these in the "Furry Empires" story I did for YARF! --it was the alien named Shrike. These are big, strong people that evolved as predators that floated in swamps and marshes. Many dismiss them as "big, dumb, and strong" types, but they are intelligent and tend to be quite philosophical.
