Hey y’all,

Do I have any viewers who are amputees, or who have any body parts that they would prefer not to focus on for any reason during guided relaxations or ASMR role plays that refer to offscreen body parts?

I’ve always worried about this—wondering if it’s off-putting for a parapalegic to hear an artist instructing them to relax their legs, or for someone who just had rotator cuff surgery to have an artist simulate “squeeeezing” their shoulder. I’d love to include a brief but validating acknowledgement of that possibility in my videos. I’m thinking of something that starts, “If, at any point this video, I refer to a body part that you don’t have or that you would prefer not to think about for any reason ...” And then what? I’d really love some first-person insight if any of you have it and would be kind enough to share. Thank you!❤️

Love,

JB

I can't give any insight personally, but I would be happy to listen to any videos you wanted to make targeting those specific audiences if you wanted to mix it up a bit and help them feel acknowledged. Feel free to fit us for prosthetic limbs or anything else along those lines.

It’s not something f that’s ever bothered me, as a paraplegic, though I can’t speak for everyone’s experiences. I sometimes find it does break the illusion if someone says something like “just walk over here please” but not in an irreparable way. Perhaps it’d be worth thinking about language like that if it’s ever relevant, but that’s all I would say!
