It's such a conundrum about Hiyori's fate & involvement with Regalia, Gods, & Phantoms... it does place her in unnecessary danger over & over, she witnesses stuff humanity should normally never see, she influences deities, but she also saves others, resolve conflicts, and so on... plus, the bonds she builds with Yato, Yukine, & everyone else only grow stronger over time, so it gets harder and harder for Yato to sever all ties because his emotions grow stronger as she changes him for the better, but he just can't bring himself to be forgotten by her, as both unfair & fair as it is for Hiyori in this situation...

Honestly, the author deserves praise, the way Yato's written is just superb, because we spend so much time watching him be shallow, greedy, jealous, playful, idiotic, and wholly unserious that the times we see him show his true emotions, his true self... just hit so much harder. It made me emotional to see Yato start crying over the mini-shrine Hiyori spent all night making personally for him, to see him achieve his childhood dream, to be given something that means the world to /all/ gods regardless of status... twas' fucking beautiful, Hiyori's such a sweet girl!
