This finale was not what I expected! The Giant metal suit and the huge beams were so much fun and required all the main characters to band together to stop it. Just what I want in a finale. Enjoy :)

Given that Korra is done now, what will take its place, I personally would love for it to be attack on titan as I’m confident you’d love that show.

The last half of the final episode I think was meant to parallel the last half of the ATLA final episode. A big celebration with all the characters gathered in one place (Zuko’s coronation and Varrick/Zhu Li’s wedding), then ending with the avatar and their girl sharing a peaceful moment.

“Korrasami is canon. “You can celebrate it, embrace it, accept it, get over it, or whatever you feel the need to do, but there is no denying it.” So a few days after the finale aired, Bryan Konietzko made a post on Tumblr. In it he goes over how their relationship changed over time, and how the creators went about making it happen. https://www.tumblr.com/bryankonietzko/105916338157/korrasami-is-canon-you-can-celebrate-it-embrace As he said in the post, “Was it a slam-dunk victory for queer representation? I think it falls short of that, but hopefully it is a somewhat significant inching forward.” Korra is the first main character of a western, all-ages animated show to end up in a same-sex relationship, and that’s one of the reasons this show will always be close to my heart!

Also during the early days of the pandemic some of the voice actors from the show got together over Zoom and did live readings of some of the Legend of Korra comics that take place after the end of the show! The first one is just Korra and Asami’s VAs, and someone on YouTube paired the audio from the reading with a motion comic version and almost made it like an episode: https://youtu.be/ylU-ksQP4FE?si=HIVxuQVbZ1mRQfY6

Honestly would love for you to check out Castlevania on Netflix since you’ve wrapped up the world of Avatar.

now that you're done with the avatar i really think youd like steven universe! it takes a bit to grow on you though

Puns of War

With Korra finished, I think you would enjoy Sailor Moon or My Hero Academia. If you have not seen those already.

Steffie Boosten

I think you would enjoy The Dragon Prince as well. You'll also hear a familiar voice :)

Vox Machina is one of my FAVORITE shows 🤩🤩🤩 I love the story behind it too, how it was originally a DND campaign and all the people voice their characters on the show, and the dungeon master is the narrator. Love it 🤩

Miss Hunter

I would LOVE if you would react to The Dragon Prince on Netflix!

Your comment regarding heroes and their opponents being vulnerable with one another left me wondering where else we’ve ever seen that except in ATLA. And very clearly you’re right that Korra is a dramatically different character than Aang. The show overall wasn’t nearly as cohesive as the exceptionally well-constructed three-season arc of Avatar, but given the more haphazard approvals for the Korra series, it’s still a very respectable achievement. If you stop to think about it, they were about as ambitious as at least I can imagine any children’s tv show has been in what they put Korra through. And the payoff here at the end, with Korra describing how suffering taught her empathy and compassion…it’s hard to overstate how important that is, and the degree to which it’s applicable to real life. Korra is the world‘s most powerful being, and we all know what power does to a person’s perspective, and too often, their subsequent behaviors. Just look at the psychological studies of drivers of luxury cars at cross-walks, for example, or at a different scale, at any head of state, especially during wars and other conflicts. Wealth and power (wealth is, of course, power) affect how we feel about other people. The current research consensus is that money makes folks feel less dependent on others, and, therefore, less connected to their own humanity. Too often, a sense of being better than others, above and more worthy, arrives as well. It’s surprising that we don’t do a much better job in grooming future leaders (and yes, I’m ignoring the contemporaneous and surely transitory bastardization of that otherwise very positive and useful term) given the uncountable disasters in our history (and even in current events). I mentioned recent research on the “power corrupts” effect, but of course we’ve been aware of the problem for eons. For just two examples, the Christian tradition speaks very forcefully to it, with the evils of money and the virtues of humility and empathy being among the least obscured and most emphasized messages it promulgates. Buddhism similarly emphasizes the criticality of compassion in how we conduct ourselves. Both of these philosophies are thousands of years old, and billions of people have been raised with those ideas. But still we suffer the consequences of unchecked ambition and power wielded by the undisciplined and the arrogant. We can and should do so much better, and I feel this show was speaking to that idea. Loved this series overall, and very much enjoyed your reviews.
