January Update! (Better Late than Never) (Patreon)

Howdy Patrons!

Emma here. I know I talked to many of you on Discord yesterday (sidenote: link your Discord to your account if you haven't–it's the easiest way to communicate!) but I apologize for being M.I.A. for a few weeks. The Holidays are always a doozy for me, seeing as I still work at a theme park and it is a VERY busy time of year. Then, as y'all know, a place that myself and many other people involved in the Schmoedown either freelanced or worked full time made some tough business decisions right after the new year so, my life has been undergoing some upheaval, professionally.

As I am sure most of you also already know, if you follow me on my personal social channels/watched my guest appearance on S.E.N. last week, I am taking a step back from the Schmoedown. While I will still be around calling matches and doing post-game interviews from time to time (as you'll see as soon as the draft gets done being edited–I promise, you'll have it as soon as it's done!), I am no longer managing and will also be handing over the Patreon reigns to another very capable and excellent human who we will announce in the next couple of weeks.

I understand that there was some confusion regarding the Awards/Show Draft and that some of you were under the impression that it would be livestreamed. I see why you may have thought that–and certainly why you would have hoped for that–however, that was never in the plans. It was also not our intention to mislead you. Apologies for not communicating that clearly and here, specifically.

In the past, we have always pre-taped the awards. Last year was the first year we even opened them up to fans to attend in person. And it was so successful, we did it again this year. We sincerely thank each and every one of you who came out on Saturday. It was such a fun day!

Now onto everyone has every right to be grumpy about: the spoilers that are running rampant–and were encouraged, heck even posted by the source–on social media. All I can say about that is, I'm sorry. I don't run social for the Schmoedown, I also was not really on my phone at all during the event so I wasn't even aware of it until the following day. I am not sure why the decision was made to go ham on spoilers. But it was, and we can't undo that. I sincerely apologize to each and every one of you who were disappointed because of this. I empathize with your extremely valid feelings.

As previously stated, our editors are working as quickly as possible to get both the awards show and the draft edited and posted to the S.E.N. YouTube page. As soon as those links are available, I will share them here as well!

Thank you for being one of the coolest, most dedicated, and understanding communities on the internet. I have so enjoyed getting to know so many of your during my year as Patreon Fulfillment Manager. I'll be around for a couple more weeks as we transition my successor into the role.
