The Breathtaking World Of ONE PIECE! Hey Haylo, Don't think I missed that the headphones suddenly turn into glasses.

Yuuuuuup 151 was the episode I started taking notes and theorizing. I still have my notebooks to this day! I remember when this episode first released through fansub groups. We were going NUTS.

It's interesting when you put into perspective that Bellamy was so loud and obnoxious and Luffy and Zoro, who were much stronger were far more laid back, perhaps already hinting at their strength... yet somehow none of us paid any attention to the most laid back person on that island 👀... it goes to show how subtle this series can be at times

klairvoyage

I know everbody loves joking about how OP fans will tell you "iT gEtS gOoD oN episode X, Y and/or Z", but personally this is the one I look forward to the most, when somebody new starts OP. Sure this story has great moments of storytelling, as you just experienced in your last saga, however, what has people still care about this series even 27 years into it, sets it apart from the rest & makes us keep coming back to it (especially the further you get in) is its mystery aspect, world building & lore – literally a modern day epic. Imo it is really THIS episode that marks the "true beginning" of One Piece (as we know it) & these type of episodes are easily my favorite ones ZEHAHAHA

First lore piece episode!

DC

This is where the one piece lore really starts to shine, lots of new ppl, places and things on the horizon :)

When Zoro and Luffy said it wasn’t “he” but “they,” they meant that Blackbeard wasn’t alone, as he has a crew and is a pirate himself. However, there are also many theories about that short interaction with Blackbeard in episode 147, so feel free to consider other people’s interpretations of that moment.

One Peak

Jake from SF

To be fair... blackbeard does have a 5 o'clock shadow going on. But man this episode is one of my favorites. The 5 elders (BTW gorosei = 5 elders a lot of One Piece fans use the untranslated term), whitebeard, shanks, 2 more warlords making 4 of the 7 we've seen now, blackbeard, Luffy punching bellamy... the only thing this episode is missing is Buggy 🤣

Rain andMoonlight

I'm mainly a manga reader, so I've never been this far into the anime before (something else I love about watching this along with y'all). And I have to say, I didn't expect the South Bird to sound like a demon lol. In the manga it just says "JOOO" and I always imagined it as a much sillier sound. I kind of like this though

I remember watching the early episodes and just having some feelings in a fight where im like "i just want x,y,z" and Oda delivers every...single....time. even now being caught up, some of these fights are so loud on screen, but between Oda's vision and Toei's amazing animators its 1100+ episodes of one of the best experiences of all time. I have seen many a novelist on YT start reading OP and have them compare it to The Odyssey in scale, which is, just amazing in my opinion.

I consider the peak of "Romance Dawn" to be the definition of the "true beginning" hence the title, but IMO this is essentially when what One Piece is island to island reveals itself. Time after time you walk into a new world dumbfounded with your expectations only hindering your understanding outside of areas where you yourself have cultured yourself in our world and can manage to make the thematic connections Oda is working with. Also, I'm shocked no one has given them the heads up that the word for "Beard" in Japanese meaning facial hair in general, so Blackbeard's lack of shave and Whitebeard's mustache is enough to count. Personally though I think's Blackbeard's hair is kind of a symbol towards "beginnings"

klairvoyage

yeah, for future reference, I wouldn't fully commit to the idea yet, that they were talking about his crewmates when they said "he? no, it's they"

MotU_Shosha

These kind of episode is always so exciting. There are some small arcs and some parts of the story between two arcs where we are getting overwhelmed with information and character introductions. This is the first of these world building episodes. And yeah Whitebeard is really tall, he has 6.66 metres height, but Bartholomew Kuma, the warlord we saw at the meeting, is still a bit taller. There are many unnaturally big characters in One Piece, but luckily for the normal sized ones as Luffy: size doesn't matter ;)

Tomas

A yes, the "Blackbeard's flag is a clue" "Crocodile old secret identity" and "Shanks and Luffy have a Davy Back Fight near the end of the series" Tier of One Piece Theory.

I was laughing so hard when y'all were disappointed that Luffy was getting beat up and literally said, "just wait a bit more 😉😏" 🤣🤣🤣. One of the greatest punches I've ever seen 😁😁😁 So, Commander-in-chief is a mistranslation for Sengoku. His title should read as "fleet admiral". The other warlords we meet brings the total of warlords we've seen to 4, which is just over half, although, with Crocodile out as a warlord, it's actually 3, which is exactly half lol. The Saruyama Alliance sacrificing themselves for each other (especially for Cricket) is a beautiful look at their friendship 😢 Our first look at Whitebeard and yes, he's huge! Notice that both Whitebeard and Blackbeard don't have beards. That's because the Japanese word they're using in their names is "hige" which doesn't actually mean beard, but just any type of facial hair lol. It just sounds more cool to say "beard" in English lol.

bertaunth

I was just gonna say the same thing --- this episode is the true beginning of One Piece. Everything before is almost like the prologue

Dobbs

According to Ace, Blackbeard was part of the 2nd division of the Whitebeard pirates. He fled after killing a crew mate. Which leads Ace to hunt him as Blackbeard was under him. Blackbeard appears to be the opposite side of the same coin to Luffy. It’s hard to remember what’s been told. I will say it appears as though Shanks at least views himself as a peer to Whitebeard. Which is saying a lot as we’ve been told some of Whitebeard titles as the strongest man in the world and the one closest to the one piece.

CasaNoah

right now, you only know 2 of the great powers even though they haven't named them explicitly. The world government and the Seven Warlords are 2 of theses great powers and you'll learn of the third soonish

Jakob

The introduction of Blackbeard is one of my favourite episodes in the series. Definitely one you'll wanna go back and watch again once you've learned a bit more context about him.

"He's huuuuugeee,he's massive.." It got me ♡♡

So much lore <3 So much new information :X Loved your reactions on Whitebeard and Blackbeard! Note: In Japanese "hige" referes to all kinds of facial hair, not only beards or mustaches. Blackbeard might not have a beard, but he does have facial hair. I remember reading it in German (native language) and reading "Whitebeard", not understanding it and thinking that he had big orc-like fangs! Only way later I realized it's actually a mustache 🤣 Also: Luffy's fight against Bellamy's is one of my favourite - just showing the difference of the meaning behind the motivations, by beating him with a single punch! Such a hype moment! Note also here: This is still/again a reference to the influence of Shanks - while nothing was at stake, Luffy didn't think it was worth fighting for - letting Bellamy kick him down and everything. But as soon as his friends got involved, who he wants to protect, he gets active.

"I hope it's quick. I don't want to be any struggle at all." Your wish shall be granted. xD 151 is one of the best episodes and your reaction to it is one of your best! :D Ore wa Shirohige da!

RAMbot

Yeah that’s not it, but I can’t elaborate further bc there’s a reason they don’t dig deep into it just yet. Fan speculation is that he has multiple personality disorder, but to this day we still don’t have the official answer so we’re all on the “wait and see” boat.

RAMbot

Ace tells us that he is searching for Blackbeard, A crew member of the Whitebeard pirates and under Ace’s division, who broke a sacred pirate rule and murdered a fellow crew member. So Ace is on the hunt for Blackbeard. Time to get excited! 😁

codexero_

I forgot just how much lore drop was done in episode 151. Now you're really starting to see the scale of the One Piece universe. Happy watching!

Kaz

Man oh man, that Bellamy punch is up there for most exciting / satisfying Luffy moments!

Dante

According to Ace in Alabasta, Blackbeard was on Whitebeards crew until he killed a fellow member. Ace was searching for Blackbeard when he ran into Luffy and thats why he dipped out because Blackbeard wasnt on Alabasta.

Shockwave BTK

Lore drops like this are common. (pay attention)

Kyle T

don't mention theories about things that haven't been introduced yet.

J.D.

Did ya notice how Luffy didn't even bother using any of his Devil Fruit powers on the offensive? So not worth the time to get stretchy lol He just knocked Bellamy's brakes off and called it a night.

HauntedDoll_Annabelle

This is the Episode of revealing or unveiling. if i got the words right.

Nick

Bro's gotta be on steroids or something, ain't no way someone gets that big without help ;-;

Mone

I always have the biggest smile whenever cool shit happens and you girls get super excited about it! And the good thing is...there is so much cool shit going to happen in OP 😁 Gonna smile A LOT in the future 😋☺️

Mellorine

Yeah, episode 151 is one of those lore and world-building episodes, most OP fans love these types of eps more than some arc climaxes or some huge fights when the world grows exponentially and most of the time our crew isn't even around while the world moves.

HeartlandHunny

I have to laugh when you say soonish, because in any other series that amount of episodes until we get that info would not be in any regard considered soon, but One Piece on the other hand...😂

HeartlandHunny

Oh, man, you finally got your first look at Whitebeard! I love that it took yall a second to register just how big he is. I love these episodes just for how cool it is when Bellamy and Mock Town learn about Luffy and Zoro's bounties (even though Luffy and Zoro still don't know, lol), how we finally get the reveal of the pirate Ace wants to become King of the Pirates, and then all the juicy lore!

Slejhy

Welcome to your average One Piece "around the world" world building episodes... enjoy the ride hihi
