Luffy and Zoro saying ‘it’s they and not he’ was so confusing when I first watched this episode😂 Btw, it has nothing to do with the guy’s pronouns or anything like that, but you’ll find out later in this arc.

Pie Daddy has entered the chat. Also, "What the gun?" is the perfect response to Sniper Dude XD

Luffy following in the footsteps of Shanks by not fighting back. Love the callback to the beginning

Haylo

We genuinely thought it was a pronoun thing and Luffy just being random lol interesting!!

DC

"People's dreams never end" I'm caught up on OP and it's still my favorite quote in the entire series. Straight chills.

codexero_

Not a spoiler but the name Montblanc was mentioned in the One Piece Live Action.

In a earlier sbs(reader questions to Oda), a reader once asked Oda why he doesnt kill his enemies. And he basically answered: "Why doesn't Luffy kill his enemies? Because in that era, everyone uses their lives to fight for their dreams. For an enemy, when their dream has been shattered, it is the same as losing a fight, and as painful as death. I believe that, as pirates, killing or not killing is secondary to victory or defeat." I love this being showcased

By the way, are you already familiar with the 3 devil fruit types? Just wondering if you can tell what type of fruit just by looking at the character and their power.

Zoro, our favourite ride or die! The "dream speech" by pie dude while everyone is mocking him for it and our boys not fighting back in the bar, really shows how it doesn't matter what other people think about us and our dreams. At the end of the day, the only people who have to believe in the dream are the ones going after it. It's the hard thing to do, to not let it get to you when someone is making fun of you and your dreams. I love that this basically happened to Shanks when Luffy was a kid and back then Luffy reacted like Nami but now, being in the same shoes as Shanks, he finally just gets it.

I'm not sure if you remember but that random dude sitting down screaming "People's dreams never end!" is the same ending line from the video "Breathtaking World of One Piece" that you both reacted to. Crazy to think just how far we've come already.

HauntedDoll_Annabelle

damn it. have to wait til Wednesday for the 150 and 151. 151 is epic!

Arnold

I'm getting it as my first tattoo in Kanji when I visit Japan next year :D

Amazing reaction once again!! PS: Patiently waiting for aot suite reaction:)

Stoic

the fact that statement is still relevant today is so powerful

EgregiousGrievous

Sometimes the dreamless just aren't worth fighting. I also love the fact Zoro is so loyal to Luffy, he let himself get beat on his Captain orders, no questions asked!

Ikado

Sonar? Sky island? Dreams?

Dutte

it's not yet been explained in the series. the only type that has been mentioned so far is the zoan.

The scene in the bar and the scenes with the Cherry Pie Man (or so I'm choosing to call him), are both very interesting and impactful. For the fight, we see Luffy take a page out of Shanks' book. He decides that this fight isn't worth participating in. Stooping to Bellamy's level and giving into his childish goading would only serve to ultimately harm Luffy's pride and Zoro goes along with this fully and without question. But what I have always found interesting, is their little talk with Cherry Pie Man afterward. He's saying things that sound great and in line with Luffy's line of thinking, but we see that Luffy and Zoro both have the same expressions they had in the bar. They barely say a word to him and end the conversation by simply turning around and leaving. Perhaps something about him unnerved them greatly. Maybe somehow the words he spoke sounded to them like a different kind of mocking or dishonesty. Whatever the case, they did not part as friends. The strangeness of their interaction is only compounded by Luffy and Zoro suggesting that it's not "he", its "they". In this case, we aren't talking about gender (very few, if any, pronouns in Japanese are formally gendered), but rather plurality, which is why Nami asks if they mean that there are other people around with him. The fact that neither of them answer her is also very strange. I am impressed by the author's ability to make even brief interactions like this so captivating. I also noticed on this watch through this episode that when Luffy tells Cherry Pie Man that he's worth 30 million beri, Cherry Pie Man does not directly suggest that his bounty is too high. He just says that it's wrong. I like to think that Cherry Pie Man has correctly estimated Luffy's bounty to be much higher than 30 million. Although there is little in the text to support that theory.
