Hange died for her dream that seems hopeless today. I don't think she would have it any other way. A horde of Collossal Titans? S1 Hange would have fainted. Floch also died fighting for his unbending convictions but instead to safeguard his country's security. Just as he said that Erwin was the devil they needed, Floch came to accept that he had to be a devil himself, for his country. He seemed to have glamourized and idolized both Eren and Erwin as the heroes Paradis needed. Falco inherited traits of the Beast Titan from Zeke's spinal fluid. The Beast can be any animal, Zeke's manifested as an ape, the same ape toy we see him playing with in 3x20 I think. Falco's Jaw seemed to be beaked because of this (4x1 opening shot of Falco talking to a bird, not to mention "Falco" itself lol). Annie has never actually known compassion from the moment she was born, she is clearly selfish but it's just how she was raised. Trained to fight literally from birth, she's just tired. She's also small because she never grew in the crystal. The animators, directors, and sound designers did a stellar job at capturing the horrors and the emotion. So happy you got to experience this and so sad you will be finishing it. If you really are looking to rewatch it seems I'm gonna need to renew my membership. You're really forcing my hand here >:[ grr

Love your reactions! Your discussion on the end...lemme say... you've almost nailed everything. ;) Also LOL at the shinzou sasageyo comparison with stab at the heart :D :D :D

You two understand what the writer wants to deliver, what's the message. We live in a very sad hateful world full of wars. And wars for what? some sides do it for resources [money, greed], some sides do it out of fear cuz they don't fully understand the other side. Some sides do it cuz of faith [religious reasons]. Cycle of hatred, of misunderstanding, of pride. Like a whole generation can hate another side for something the other side's old generation did 100 ago, absurd right? But that's what happening irl. I hope people who read this comment, don't take sides, my point is not political at all, although I know whenever somebody brings this up it "must" be political, right? bear with me. I'm an israeli, born here. this show brings the important key notes about the israel vs palestine conflict, 100 years [way before 1948]. IT DOESN'T MATTER which side is what [be it the eldians or marlians, israel or palestine] each side hates the other, each side does harm in it's own way, be it morally or not. Many innocent die. Each side will say "we have no other choice but to fight". Even as of now, most pro palestine or pro israeli will read this comment and already judge me for "missing" their point of view about the conflict, I can already hear the anger, I can seriously already hear it as I write this. people just refuse to wear the other's shoes for even a second. But those are the facts. Many times we tried to talk to each other, but each side refuses to understand the other. Each side wants to wipe the other. I don't have any hope for this conflict to end even after me and my generation is long dead. idk what's the future holds. but this show so far gave me one realization. you can either solve a conflict by talking....a lot....you won't even solve everything by talking, but at least it's a start. or.....having a common enemy. both of them seem unrealistic [for now], but I can only pray that we teach our kids to love the other before putting himself in the center. that's why i'm a christian, the best world to live in, is where we love the other before ourselves. I pray this day will come for at least a period of time, we will taste the potential of heaven, aren't we? This is the only piece of media that I have ever watched twice. I never watch anything more than once. that scene where Conny understands Reiner, and Reiner still understands he cannot atone for his sins but all he can do is save what's left. that's it.....that is peace....why do we realize this kind of message only after we lose so much. why we humans ALWAYS refuse to see consequences until they happen. if you are a pro palestine and you read this, be sure to know that there are some israelis who think like Armin. and I refuse to believe that there aren't Armins on the other side as well, we gotta meet someday. For now I myself just feel like annie, hard to explain but it is what it is. On a happier note. This show's writing is a masterpiece. I'm happy to watch it for a 3rd time with you two, best reactors on youtube. I know it's hard to fandom, but we cried when you cried, we laughed when you laughed, this format of "watching reactors" is like spending a fun friday with friends and share interests and ideas and see how they react, mostly one sided :P, but it's still special ;) can't wait for the final special episode. take my advice and maybe react to a "happy vibe" anime to heal from this train of emotion [SPY X FAMILY PLEASEEEEEEEEE]

For me, the true genius of this story hit more on rewatch than first watch. You think now that it’s amazing but then you rewatch and you’re mindblown. So so good!

Notice that the sparkle in Hange's eyes, which she became known for, had never been shown since Erwin's death? She lost that sparkle in mind, body and soul. And then she regains it going out in a literal blaze of glory. And with her passing, Levi is the last of the old guard. Those two were the last. The Female Titan Expedition, the Beast wandering around Paradis, The Battle of Shiganshina + Erwin's Charge, and the Wine had seen every 'old guard'/pre-Eren's class of Cadets die. Levi is the only one of the Scout Regiment from that regiment's introduction that is still around. And he fucking hates it. The "Levi Squad" of elites led by the legend himself is a suicide squad. Every squad he had under him dies--except for himself. That helped Levi and Erwin get along so well. They both stand on a mountain of corpses and they have quite the view atop it, they understand each other. Thing is, Levi knows he is immensely skilled and powerful, and curses that he is too strong to die because that means he needs to see everyone else die. Until Eren and company became the new Levi Squad. In the aftermath of Historia's coronation, we see Levi smile when he is greeted by the gang. I think that's the only non-murderous smile he gives in the show. He says, "thank you". The words left unspoken there are "thank you for not dying. I couldn't bear it if you did". And there has been recurring imagery in this show about everyone, notably Mikasa and Armin, chasing Eren up a hill with a tree on top of it. But they can never catch up to him. He is always out of reach and beating them up the hill. Beyond the visual motifs of that, the only dialogue you've seen try to hammer that out was Hannes to Mikasa and Armin after Bertholdt and Reiner captured him after the big reveal and ran off. Again and again I'll vouch for Korotos' Mystery Shack's retrospective analysis series on AoT. Start watching it after you finish this and feel ready. A+ Explication of everything. And he does other shows too, I think there's a series analyzing One Piece too

Tom Murray

Also worth remembering what Floch went through and it was also the literal first thing he went through amid all this. He was the lone survivor of Erwin's Charge. Talk about a baptism by fire. His survivor's guilt definitely is a motivator for all his decisions since then and how it all ended up to him dead on a hanger floor like that

Manuel

I totally agree with Haylo when she said something like:"rewatching a show is when you realise how good the writing is" this is the main reason why I think AoT is the best tv show ever, of anything. It's also the reason why so many people love re-watching the show through reactions, the amount of details/foreshadowing you will see on the first episodes while on the first re-watch are absolutely insane.

tyria

I'm so happy and excited to see these reactions. And it's great you guys refrain from reading comments. Spoilers are everywhere even when people don't intend to spoil. Knowing you are going into these without knowing any spoilers makes this so good.

Dannigom

great reaction as always!! after you finish the show i highly recommend watching all the openings/endings with lyrics 😌

S Hughes

Aside of what other people are saying, i also recommend watching the end credits scenes. i did miss them the first time, when the episode was released. just a couple weeks ago, when i was rewatching it, with you girls, and decide to continue it, since i couldn't stop, i paid attention to them, and, fuck, the storytelling and worldbuilding of this show, is amazing. i wasn't an anime fan, at all. then a university friend recommended this show, and since i didn't have anything else to watch, i agreed to see a couple of episodes, just for pass the time. this was in 2018, i was older than them, for a couple of years, so didn't expect my type of story or themes. i was completely wrong. for every new season, i rewatched every previous one. what a great show. cheers

Drift3r

First of all, AWESOME REACTION !!! LOVED IT !! Second, I NEED THE SECOND REACTION !! LOLOLOLOL!! And yes, Hange's death hits HAAAAAAAARD...It was so well done. Especially when they flashed over to the scene where she meets Erwin and the other Scouts. Also did you notice even the HORSES where there in heaven....😢....But yeah give me the second viewing ASAP...😝

Jamesson

So glad I was here to share this journey with you two :)

Hippopi

The opening scene with Eren and Ramzi and then all the brutality after gets me every time.

Hippopi

I agree with you to a certain point, but like Hange said “I’ll be damned before we justify genocide”. Both sides need to just stop. But from an outsider looking in, the one with more power is the one who should take that step first.

Joshua

After you guys finish watching the finale, I would love to hop in a discord call and answer any questions you two have, unless you plan on rewatching. The show goes so much deeper than anyone could ever realize on first watch. I’m 4-5 re-watches in and still figuring new things out. Would love to connect some dots for y’all 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Rafael Ramirez

Annie stepping away from the fight I can sort of understand. Especially since her losing her reason for fighting might prevent her from even being able to turn into a titan anymore. It could be like those times Eren wasn't able to transform cause he still had some lingering doubts.

Hiighbreed

The music was incredible.. Hange was incredible.. Levi is still our favorite short king.. this is like my 5th rewatch and i still tear up and get excited at the same exact moments.

Goodman Grey

The Rumbling is one of the most harrowing things I've ever seen in media. It is awe-inspiring in the worst and best way.

Cyber

I spent an hour trying to think of what to write about, but i have nothing else to add right now. Every single thing you said in your ending discussion is 100% on point in terms of discussion topics. You girls have elevated what it means to be a reaction channel for AoT. You truly give your hearts, and you see the greyscale of it. Don't forget to watch the ending credits as they scroll/flow in the last last series finale episode. It will add to the discussion.

Beor

At least we're in better conditions to understand each other than anywhere in the past. Today is just one of these meaningless cycles, I'm not losing hope, future generations will go through a big struggle that will finally brings them together now that globalization forced everyone to be related to each other in various inhuman and human ways. They will both talk and fight against the common system that they're reproducing themselves when the very same system will shatter their illusions in the final crisis its contradictions developped.

Sebastian

Floch is the only one that actually cared about Paradis, I don't understand the Floch hate.

Kayden 21

He is a pretty terrible person lmao. And to say that the others do not care about their home is just not true so thats probably apart of it.

Sebastian

Idk if they read these comments so I won't say much to not spoil anything, but out of the main characters who else do you think cared as much as Floch at the end other than Eren? They all betrayed their island. Rewatch the show bud.

Rudy

Floch definitely wasnt the only one who actually cared about paradis. Since s1 we've seen scouts dying for the island

Sebastian

Read what I said again lil bro. I said "in the end" and "main characters". Good try tho.

derinderinderinderin

Floch is a genocidal fascist who tried to execute not only the rest of the world but also the Azumabitos, Onyankopon and Yelena.

Sebastian

You watched the show wrong lil guy, the genocidal maniac was Eren. I'm not sure you know what genocide means if you think Floch was the one doing that. He did what he had to do with Paradis in mind at all times even during his death this ep. You are wrong and emotional, take a break.

Sean Maloney

He wants to wipe out every race and faction that isn't eldians on Paradis... But isn't genocidal? Brother you need a dictionary. He was also a complete power tripping jack boot thug, and actually enjoyed exercising his power over others as soon as he got it. Plus his start as a complete coward until he was basically handed power by Erin means he's done nothing to earn anybody's respect, anybody's trust, or anybody's sympathy. He died doing what he loved... Being a complete psycho.

Sebastian

Floch did not commit genocide, are we watching the same show? Thankfully you are commenting right under the episode! you should watch it! you should also read what the conversation is about before you type your nonsense. lil dude.

Sebastian

Good idea deleting your reply to my comment bud, eventhough seeing your pfp I understand why you got emotional :(

Jik

Ah yes, he didn't commit genocide, he just did everything he possibly could in his power to ensure that Eren would be able to do it. Such a clear distinction. Also Floch didn't care about Eldia. He cared about power and justifying the traumatic experience he went through as a Scout. Everything he did was to justify what he went through, not because he cared about the island and its inhabitants. He used that as his rallying cry, but fascists do that all the time. He was the quickest to point his gun at his fellow Eldians, when all of our other main Scouts wanted to negotiate. The only time he showed ANY sort of solidarity with the hero Eldians was when he was bleeding out on the floor. Did YOU watch the same show? You're out here being disrespectful as fuck calling any dissenting opinion "lil bro" or "lil guy" to demean them while telling all these other diehard fans of the show that they don't know what they are talking about. That's not winning a debate, that's just regurgitating an insult. You're either a troll or a child, or you're cut from the same cloth as Floch but without the excuses. Not sure which is worse tbh.

Albertan Motorcyclist

Floch is a bad person sure, but if you genuinely think Floch only had personal ambition and power in mind and didn't care about Eldia in the slightest you didn't watch AOT. You're trying to reduce Floch to a 1 dimensional evil character who had no genuine or larger motivations behind his actions. Floch certainly veiled some of his ambition and enjoyment of power behind saving Eldia, but claiming he didn't even care about paradis is delusional

Daaylen Watson

Game Of Thrones and House of the dragon at some point maybe? Also damn I’m hype for the AOT finale.

Marcel Plambeck

You didn’t understand the show one bit. It’s hilarious how you are projecting 😂

Sebastian

He didn't, it was the cadets, it actually was a big part of the plot I don't know how you missed that. Another one yapping without even watching the show.

Rudy

Can't defend their argument "not reading allat" 😌

Sebastian

If you wana summarize it for me I'd be more than happy to school you like I've done everyone else, if not, be quiet!

Hiighbreed

i did that cause i didn't have the energy to go back and forth with someone who might just be toxic.. seems like i was right. My reply to your comment was completely in good faith and respectful. Not emotional.

Albertan Motorcyclist

The future isn't set in stone per se, but remember that he future Eren sees is memories, so for them to exist he has to follow through on the actions that would create those memories to exist in the first place. Ultimately, Eren is the same person as the future Eren who would have followed through with the necessary actions to make those memories, so he would make the same decisions that would lead to that future. This episode also has one of the most important scenes, that being the one where Eren apologizes to Ramzi. Jaegerist viewers never talk about this scene because it explicitly reveals that Eren didn't do the rumbling for solely selfless/noble reasons of protecting his friends and the island. He initially says it's to protect his loved ones, but then says "but there's more". He explains that he was disappointed with the fact that people even existed outside the walls and that the world wasn't an empty place for him to explore like he had imagined after talking with Armin about that book as a kid. Eren then says "he wanted this", which confirms that even if he had doubts and knew it was wrong, he ultimately wanted the rumbling not just to protect his friends, but because he wanted to wipe away the things that got in the way of his dreams of freedom and exploration.

boba feat

great reaction as always at then end you mention the Music in the show so I'd like to recommend you a few OST's I think you should listen to while reading the lyrics. first is "13 winters" it's a song about Mikasa's feelings towards Eren sung by her voice actress, the melody is reused in the first half of the ending song of special part 2 with different lyrics. Then we have "apple seed" its the song we hear before Bertholdt transforms in Shiganshina and nukes the place. Lastly there's "ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn" (yeah I know lol) it's a song that plays often during the show since season one, usually when Eren transforms into a titan, most notable occasion its used is when Eren's Rumbling arrives in Marley's shores at the end of season 4 episode 28. enjoy!
