First of all, thank you so much for allowing us some extra time to watch, digest, and edit these episodes. We know waiting can be annoying, but we appreciate your patience/understanding so so much.
Secondly, we've never had more trouble editing anything in the history of time. What business do we have cutting ANYTHING from this masterpiece of an episode, or even this entire series for that matter...

This definitely had Finale energy and it is so incredibly bittersweet being at the end. We'll be holding our breath going into the last episode next week. Thank you so much for watching with us and for sharing your thoughts/clarifications in the comments, we can't wait to read them all soon. We hope you enjoy our reaction to this episode, and we'll see you for the last one next Friday!

The rumbling sequence at the start is a masterpiece. Intercutting Eren apologizing to Ramzi in the past with the horrors of the reality in present time is hauntingly beautiful and sad. The animation is top tier as well.

Even though the cycle of violence and hatred will always continue, we have to try our best not to continue it and even if we can't, we have to keep trying regardless of the outcome.

So around the time the plane appears in the lightning zeke throws rocks at the plane. The Ackerman blood gives Levi and Mikasa superhuman abilities, but only when it comes to protecting the person they're "bound" with. Levi and Mikasa were bounded with Erwin and Eren respectively, but Erwin is dead and Eren is a monster, so their targets changed to others. How do we know this? When the rocks are thrown, Mikasa and Levi both say "Onyakapon!" Before the rocks even hit. They knew their friends were in danger, and their Ackerman blood kicked in

I believe what Eren meant when he said the future has already been 'determined' is that, due to the Attack Titan's powers, he had already foreseen the deaths of all those people. He realized he couldn’t change what he had seen when Sasha died and he asked Connie what her last words were. Connie thought Eren was laughing at Sasha, but in reality, Eren was just confirming what he had already seen—that Sasha's last words would be 'meat'. This scene made him realise he doesn't have the power to change the future he has seen. That's also why Eren was conflicted when it came to saving Ramzi. He knew he would end up saving him in that moment because he had seen Ramzi die in the Rumbling later on.

All Ackermans in this show has shown such sixth sense instinct. Levi dodging Kennys bullet Levi dodging bullets again while swinging towards bar Kenny using chair which he was going to throw to block Levis shot. Kenny dodging kick from Annie Mikasa dodging Erens Titans punch. Mikasa knowing they have to run even though Annie was held by multiple scouts. This show has magical powers, is it hard to believe someone having sixth sense? It is also mentioned by Mikasa and Levi in different scenes, that when they awakened power, they knew exactly what to do, even running if the situation calls.

"vengeance at all costs" seems a bit reductive. To me at least he is seems a died in the wool utilitarian fascist. His goal is the freedom and safety of his countrymen, and he's willing to use whatever means are necessary, even "demons". He is willing to slaughter Liberio because he sees those people (eldians who cooperate with Marley and are it's weapons that slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his countrymen) as the threat, not merely because he wants vengeance. His dying words are to not stop Eren because if they do the people of Eldia will die, because without that demon he's sure Eldia will fall.

No spoilers in here, but important for you to know: You can completely disregard what Falco said in 4x1 for your theories. There was so much time between season 3 and season 4 and the tone of the show shifts so hard that they put that in there ("Wasn't I flying around with swords just now?") to confirm that you are actually watching AoT. He didn't say that in the manga and you can disregard it. Also, given that it was a "correction" thing. The dream Eren had in episode one before he wakes up (images of things yet to come) and the dream Eren had in the flashback at the beginning of this episode ("See you later, Eren") are different - that is because the dream in the first episode was actually wrong, Wit studio just took some scenes they thought were cool and put it there, while not knowing that it was significant. So, Mappa put that in there in the first special, to correct it, because (like everything) it will become important in the last episode. The flashback you saw at the beginning of this episode is faithful to the manga, while the beginning of episode 1x1 was not.

Not to be the "actually" nerd guy here. But while you are correct, that doesn't take away from the canon feel of it. Even the manga and any fan fiction can technically be still part of the "what could have been" timeline. But let's just look at this single timeline if we want to nitpick, it still fits because we're seeing only part of what they're expressing on screen and we dont know how much eren has sent to the past. ELDIANS are connected, even non titans, since he was able to do the whole PA system to all eldians at the end of last season warning them of the rumbling. So past eren not having the titan or falco not having a titan doesnt matter: current God Eren can reach them eitherway. And what he sends them is arbitrary to him and him alone. The whole point of this is that Eren's lived billions of possibilities and tried everything and it always lead to the Rumbling. So what we saw in earlier seasons is not necessarily a problem. But he needs past eren to live through that emotional passion and willpower and becoming the lightning rod of hate... same with gaby, but he also needs people like falco and armin who are kind and are willing to listen to the other: Falco saying that he was flying just now, and there were swords etc, it's true, but it could also be eren just feeding information to specific people. Falco's always been the one who was the most tolerant and most "friendly" to people because he could put himself in their shoes. This could easily been a nod that Eren's been sending memories to Falco via paths before the events even started to let him subconsciously FEEL what hte scouts felt their entire life. The fact that it aligns with hte whole falco's jaw/beast titan mutation, that's coincidence maybe but we call those either happy coincidences or fate playing. I only recently for example found out that Mikasa's headaches were as early as the first 3 episodes. And the scenes that eren saw at the beginning of the show are flashbacks to what is coming, we saw the BEGINNING of that flashback of the entire show in at 1x1 and now we saw that he actually saw EVERYTHING not just the next 10 minutes of the show, and he woke up crying not just because he subconsciously saw the wall fall and his mom die, but because he knew subconsciously what his life was going to send him towards: the rumbling. And considering how this series ends, and what happens with Eren and where he ends being in the end... it's fated that Eren of 1x1 is lying down in the EXACT. SAME. SPOT. (ps: the girls are already watching and editing last episode and wont see this comment so that's why im being thorough)\

This discussion would take ages again and not have any result. The only thing that is left for me to say is that if something is not confirmed it should be highlighted as such, because everything you say is speculation and not only unconfirmed but actually unlikely. For example, Mikasa having headaches as early as episode two has been known since the last chapter dropped in April 2021, how did you not realize this until now and at the same time talk about multiple timelines and God-Eren showing whatever to whoever as if it was confirmed? Multiple timelines are all but completely debunked for a long time imho. Here is an overview of the complete story including all the memory stuff, at least the one that I think is the closest to all the information we have. That's easy to say when you're not on the receiving end of his plan. And Zeke's plan doesn't guarantee that the remaining islanders will be safe. Especially not when Marley has set its eyes on the resources found in Paradis.

If world stability requires genocide of a huge number of people,whether it's all the continent or all the island, one might wonder if humanity is even worth saving(Annie's character is pretty much this) Euthanization plan is very extreme too but comparing it to genocide of either side, you could argue it being the best one. There's no good choice here, they're all terrible. You can't blame Eren either, he's fighting for his people. AoT is the perfect tragedy.

Also, keep in mind Zeke's plan is only euthanasia in name. It actually guarantees a cruel decay that may be worse than death. No future to look forward to and old people forced to take care of even older people or abandon them. Total societal collapse within 2 generations, leaving the youngest with the heaviest burdens. The narrative even has Jean immediately question the viability of such a plan so I don't know why anyone still thinks it's a good plan for the Eldians themselves. I guess from the perspective of anyone else not affected it's fine, but rather than slowly die like that it's probably better to be wiped out quick and painlessly. The best solution would be to buy more time until conditions change and an even better solutions become available, the original 50 year plan. Paradis is sitting on a wealth of resources and money talks. People fight wars for gain, but if they can gain without fighting they will go for it. Paradis may have found other allies if they had a way to speak to the rest of the world, but because they relied on greedy Hizuru to try and broker that for them they couldn't find any in time to make the deadline for Zeke's term. The only drawback for this plan is that Historia and her children and people to inherit the founder would be sacrificed to maintain the rumbling deterrent. But even the best solution is not without risk. It relies on whoever to inherit the founder to not abuse the power or go against consensus. Eventually something will go wrong and Isayama wrote the titan problem as an impossible one.

just bc something didn't happen in the manga doesn't mean its not cannon rofl. the anime has always been pretty much the final draft of the manga anyway, where isayama would revise or remove things to make it better, so if anything, the manga is just a rough draft and the anime is the quintessential way to experience AOT. Always has been, and Isayama has always treated it as such. It's more than just a simple adaptation

It won't stay protected that's why he did the rumbling. Marley isn't the only one against paradise, it's the whole world, and they were getting modernatized with more powerful technologies that titans won't be able to fight against as time passes by

The Future cant be changed because hes not just seeing a possible future... he's seeing MEMORIES of the future.. Memories can only exist for something that has happened. He tries for years to "change" what he saw in his fathers memories, but everything he did just kept assuring him that he was going to start the Rumbling.. And he couldnt change it.. so to him "it has already been determined." We're used to Time Travel in movies where you can change things in the past to prevent what they saw from happening. But those people never saw a memory. Thats the difference.. He cannot change it no matter what, because he will 100% start the Rumbling, no matter what he does, and he eventually finds that out, and its because the only way for that memory to exist, is IF he does it. Thats why he became so cocky and cold, because anything he did, he knew he'd live to at least start the rumbling. The memory thing makes it confusing.
