"Retrospective"

This episode was just as incredible as it was hard to watch. Those action sequences 🔥 all the way down to the hopelessness we could feel in that post credit scene. RIP to two awesome ex-commanders (Scout Salutes) and thanks for watching with us!

We're coming up on the end here pretty quickly 😭 To keep you in the loop, we're planning on releasing the last 2 episodes over the next 2 Fridays due to their length. We know this might disappoint some of you, but it allows us the time needed to watch/digest and mostly to edit. We hope that you'll understand our need to do it this way! Also keep a look out for our poll on what to watch next and if you have a suggestion, please leave it for us in Discord.

We've enjoyed this ride with you all more than you know. Sad that it's almost over...
Thanks again all, we appreciate you so much!

Figured you guys would need a bit longer for what is basically three episodes in 1, best to take that time. Been a lot of fun watching you two on the cusp of the end of peak fiction. ❤️

If Mikasa was real and she looked at me like that irl, I would fall in love and crap my pants at the same time.

Paul Quigley

That scene with Shadis and Maggath is one of my fav from the whole series. The two men responsible for training both sides of this war, joining forces and sacrifing themselves to save humanity. Insanely good writing.

Dorak

how i understand it is, this friday is ep 28, friday next week is part 1 and in 2 weeks it's part 2

The biggest dilemma of AoT is ranking what you like most about it. The ethics/dilemma? Music? Action? Animation? Plot? Characters? Execution? Voice acting? Incredible to witness a show that's 10/10 in all departments.

Masaya Jimbo

It makes sense for the release of last two episode reactions to take longer. I would like your end of episode discussions to be proportionately longer though instead of just a couple of minutes.

PKS

AOT lives free in everyones minds, whether they like it or not. It such a story that while watching other stories in other show, you will start giving example of AOT events/situations. Its crazy

Ben

Shoutout to Floch. Whatever your opinion of him may be, he's certainly shown leadership, resolve, and ODM skills this episode. One of the MVPs

A long time ago in season 2 after Reiner had saved Conny from the pure Titan that was coming through the door by pushing him out of the way. Afterwards Conny thanked Reiner for saving him while also mentioning that Annie had saved his life before as well. Annie saved Conny’s life in season 1 when Conny was one of the people to slice a titans nape in the resupply room. The cadets fired muskets to blind the titans while Conny and the others went for the kill. Conny and Sasha missed their titans and Annie saved Conny while Mikasa saved Sasha. Anyways Conny was telling Reiner in that tower that day that he would like to return the favor to both of them one day. Then YEARS later here he comes to save Reiner AND Annie from the thunderspears finally repaying his debt to them for saving his life. He finally gets to return the favor.

Floch is the chosen one

CainetheLongshot

Also props to Floch. Love him or hate him he was able to rally his troops against THE LEGENDARY HEROES OF SHIGANSHINA. These were people that the Jeagerists looked up to. These were their heroes who saved their world against The Warriors that essentially completely destroyed the entire Scout Regiment a few years back. Floch is the only living member (besides Levi) that remembers Erwin’s speech and from that day forward he has carried Erwin’s fighting spirit and charisma to rally his people and to “give their hearts” to protect their home like what Erwin said to Floch and his group of cadets before their suicide charge. These Jeagerists fought HARD against their own heroes, against their own friends, and against the 2 warriors (the female and armored titan) that brought the survey corps to the brink of complete annihilation. I’m not a huge fan of Floch but I can also see that he was an incredible leader to fight against such impossible odds while rallying his troops and never giving up.

Costosou

Floch is what we cheered for all these past 3 seasons, one of the MVPs if you understand his point of view, for sure, but now that we have more knowledge and perspective than him is hard to agree with all of his points

Xanakone SPT

Why are people so surprised when Pixis showed up haha we see him in the coordinate when Eren announced messages 😂

Josey

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT 3 EPISODES IVE BEEN HERE SINCE EPISODE 5 CANT WAIT TO SEE YOUR REACTIONS TO THE UPCOMING “PEAK” ANIMATION AND STORY TELLING AND OFC VOICE ACTING

Mojito

I don't think you even need to ask for that one lol, they'll have plenty to talk about

Zarayut Ziri

I agree with you, Floch is like ours in all first 3 season! , so like him or not but just acknowledge him and respect his action too!

baja

Those who say that his friend are betraying him for trying to stop the genocide. Dont forget those of the 104th squad ,that joined the scouts, did so during the second breach under erwin, 14-15 years old. They were more terrified than the cadets that refused erwin's invitation. They saw on their first day of graduation the brutal reality of titans. Every battle within s1-s3 happened within 4 months. Their ideal "saving humanity" is fully and wholly entrenched in their personality. It was a vow they took. Of course they will uphold it. Humans are inherently selfish? Yes, which allows for true seflessness. Its not like ants, where its fully programmed into them. Its a choice

jake thomson

Connie: "omg i cant believe ive had to kill someone who i regarded as friends, this is so traumatising and will change me as a person 😭😭" Mikasa: "ayo, fuck dem kids"

Sean Carroll

You mean shadis? Also people are surprised because he was in shiganshina last time we saw him and now he’s here all of a sudden. It’s only a small surprise but a surprise nonetheless

Jonathan Charles

The scene with Magath and Shadis on the ship is my pick for best storytelling moment in the show.

inspirit llama

I can't wait for you to finish this incredible story!! in your next anime poll I hope you can add fmab. I find that story incredible too

NissanZaxima

Floch is a terrific motivator and a reason why a lot of people compare him to Erwin. The big big big big MASSIVE difference between the two is Erwin motived using hope and seeking answers for a better future. Floch is using fear and hatred to motivate the Jaegerists. Polar opposite while both being extremely effective.

Phillip

Gabi strikes again!!!!!!!!!!! Theo Magath and Keith Shadis sacrifice at the end!! ...and the sad thing is no one knows Shadis was there :(

Zain kb

TBH I didn’t like how mikasa killed her ppl this brutally in manga it wasn’t like this

Hans

got me sad when y'all said that at the end 😭 was here since season 1 and it has been fun to rewatch with you. where has the time went 😭

Eric Dean Draven

In S01E04, when Keith introduces all the cadets strenghs and weaknesses he says Connie is really good at sharp turn in ODM gear. When we see Connie fight in Season 3, inside the Crystal cave and in this episode, you can see him do Sharp angular turns extremely quickly, which makes it difficult for his "enemies" to avoid him. A very sweet detail. Floch needs to be praised, weather you love him, hate him or, like me, love to hate him. He feels that he is embodying Erwin's spirit and legacy and he tries his best to imitate him while fighting for what he believes. Great reaction and discussion as always ^^

Gin-liberio

It’s not about like, and stop making the argument “it wasn’t in the manga” like you made a point. Her killing her fellow scouts meant to show resolve and conviction. Sure the manga didn’t show it but, this scene is still as good or even better.

Gin-liberio

Astute observation, they’re similar but different. People hate Flock for numerous reasons but they almost never put themselves in his shoes from the beginning of the characters introduction to now and try to understand him. Instead they judge him because of a preconceived notion about whats right and wrong. I never hated or necessarily liked him, I just admired his resolve and dedication to the cause, no matter of the ends justifying the means approach. I know he has indulged in his “grotesque” work more than other characters and thats mainly why some hate him.

nikito1

Shadis died like a Bystander as he said back in season 3

skitalks

That scene of Mikasa standing in the rain of blood is a homage to Armin standing in a rain of blood in the 2nd opening of AOT. It's a tragic scene where Mikasa has to blow up one of her old comrades, to scare the Yeagerists from fighting anymore (which is why we see them run away after the explosion).

Zain kb

i’m just been conflicted with her this whole season, regardless of the purpose behind this scene or how good it is, i want to express my thoughts on a character

Nika

Floch absolutely destroyed hange, that kick was clean. The way Floch went from a coward who would be hesitant to charge against the Beast titan to someone who would face an Ackerman and titan shifters without fear is insane. This was one of the best Floch moments and the animations sequence is amazing. Floch kept moving forward and fought until the end for the future of his people, all for his country. "I'll be the one to save Eldia!" - Floch Forster

Jake

In season 1, Commander Pyxis says to Eren: "If a powerful external threat were to appear, humanity would cease its wars and unite." This episode shows that more than any other moment to this point in the show. Can't wait to watch the finale with you two.

Figgy

A bystander?! He literally went out in a blaze of glory! Sure he's not a "special person" but he couldn't be further from a bystander after this episode.

dreg

media literacy rates really are falling off man..

Tony Garcia

Floch was giving me Erwin vibes. In a way. His character had so much development. Love to see it.

Redback

floch was gangster this ep

Jake Smith

The last two episodes are a masterpiece that needs to be savoured. I'm happy to wait, especially since I waited a long time for the last episodes to be released. So this wait will be nothing.

Gabriel Mendez

His narrative evolution was literally him being a bystander in the window and deciding to take up arms and act against the jaegerists to become one of the heroes who saved the world

Mike Hunt

y'know what triggers me, why couldn't the Jeagerists fight like this during S1-3, so many people wouldn't have to die early on in the seasons. smh

Nat

Why just her tho?? They’ve all been doing this

Rae

I completely agree. Erwin’s speeches were always inspirational while Floch uses fear mongering tactics to push his nationalistic rhetoric which Erwin never did. Erwin let people think for themselves. Floch is Erwin’s antithesis.

White Knight

Did you not watch season 1-3? Because Scouts/ Jeagerists didn't even have access to Thunder spear till the second part of season 3 and they didn't have the advanced anti-human guns till season 4. Most importantly, till the end of season 3, most of them was completely clueless about the world outside their Island .They thought their enemy was just the mindless monsters called Titans. The truth of the world, Titan history, the racism and the knowledge that rest of the world would do anything and everything to wipe their population would obviously made them fight more fiercely as they were not only fighting for themselves but also for their people's freedom and right to leave.
