Reginald Leandre

This was one of the episodes i was excited for.

Harresta

It's getting juicier from here on out

Reginald Leandre

The thing i love about this show the is how well it will make you hate a character, then later make you feel really bad for them. Like no one is an enemy, everybody is suffering. Life is hard.

Isac christensen

A different perspective: The episode

Dank Waifu

Since you guys have been enjoying the music have you thought of doing a reaction to the “Attack on Titan” suite, think you would enjoy listening to the music without any scenes in the backdrop so you can clearly listen.

Don Julio TV

Make sure to watch the end credit scene next episode

Reginald Leandre

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REMEMBER THE STORY THAT RANDO TOLD OUR MARLYAN WARRIORS about seeing a titan outside his window

Blackfyre5490

The story at 9:23..... Whenever you get a chance, go back and watch episode 1x3 when Eren and Armin are talking to Reiner and Bertholdt. Doesn't Bert's story sound.....familiar????

Jonathan Charles

That ending was just... *chef's kiss*

Reginald Leandre

I really hope you guys are able to enjoy this show as the episodes go on because it will be alot of pain and despair

Baker

This episode with all the parallels and re-contextualisation of scenes you really begin to realise that Reiner is just as much a protagonist as Eren, just from a different perspective. The scene with Reiner holding the gun in his mouth is probably one of the darkest moments in the show, a man who is so mentally crippled and distraught just wanting to end it is heart breaking.

James Williams

First half of attack on titan I was having the same thoughts as Ymir and was thinking Reiner is giving bi energy. The second half of attack on titan, I added on polar.

Green Hog

For me, watching AoT (also “Vikings”) gave me a whole new perspective on how I see life, and how I see people. I can’t ever judge someone unless I know their whole life story. What pushes someone to blow up buildings full of people, or a mother who abandoned her kids to go away with a man. They are scum, for sure, but now I think of what was it that turned them to scum. That’s why I hate this show just as much as I love it.

Jake the Movie Geek

Loving the different perspective. In the Manga they actually show more scenes of them breaching Wall Maria. It’s a shame they cut it out of this episode

aryan2k2

One more episode and then onto the 2nd god tier trilogy of this show!! Hope yall have watched all 3 episodes together🤞🤞.

Charlotte

well this was a delight to watch. in an awful way, as befits AoT reactions

Zain kb

you guys probably didn’t remember, but did u hear the story of the old man who was with reiner bert and annie? Bert copied his story and told it to armin and eren in first season as his own story, he was affected by him and said that he kept dreaming about him. also another note, reiner in 10:58 said to eren “ keep moving forward” in the past, and in the end of the ep eren said “ only those who keep moving forward will ever know”. eren and reiner two sides of the same coin

Stark_Go

Not sure where to put this, but there's this YouTube channal: エリーとアニメ海外の反応【英語解説】 That's been taking your AoT content and putting them on their own channal, I don't know if you guys are okay with it, I just wanted to tell you all about it so you know incase you didn't.

Ezequiel Gonzalez

The whole Annie scene with Kenny is to show how CLOSE she was to actually finding the king. Remember, Kenny was Reiss’ personal guard, so the fact that Annie met face to face with Kenny goes to show how near she was to finding the king.

Wlad

No spoiler included: Just catched up from yt and its amazing how often on point you are with your analysis and how you get almost everthing during your first watch, way better than me xD. Was really nice to see your reaction on the episode with the big info dumb. It was the same wtf moment for me and the whole world starts to make sense. Big propz, keep up with the good work and have fun =)

ZQ.Yellow

reiner, eren and falco they all say the same thing, "I can't let this go on!"

Josey

I can’t for the next one , what a great reaction , seeing different perspectives it’s heart breaking knowing that there’s no right or wrong only people who think what they’re doing is right

Franck Seng

"We were just kids, we didn't know anything" Reiner S2E6.

Dorak

they said they won't be reading comments because there is no moderation on patreon and thus can't avoid spoilers so they might not do it :')

Gin-liberio

If you could read the secret history of your enemies, you should find in each human’s life, sorrow and suffering enough to disarm hostility.

Dane Fisette

Watch the after credit scene in the next episode!!! Lol

freshfruitbox

This is my favorite episode, seeing Reiner's origin story is devastating.

MAY

Their mission was to find the founding titan, so Annie was following Kenny to get info. She said she was his daughter as a believable reason that she would be following him. But Kenny apparently made a vow to never have kids so he insatntly knew that she couldn't possibly be his daughter. Kenny was likely about to kill her or capture her if she didn't escape.

MAY

Also, when they show Bert sleeping, his position is that of The Hanged Man in tarot, alluding to him thinking about the guy who hung himself and foresahdowing the guilt and suicidal thoughts of both him and Reiner

Xanakone SPT

Damm no notification I'm late today

Aison Magday

Reiner is the outside walls perspective looking in and Eren is the inside walls perspective looking out. Both are fighting the same fight and both are right from their perspectives and wrong from the other's perspective. Every hero is the villain in someone else's story. Just depends on which side of the wall you're looking from.

Changsta

This episode really spells out how Reiner has random coping breakdowns when him and Bertholdt were revealed as titans back in Season 2 Episode 6. It's really chilling to go back and watch that revelation.

PdotX

Still it's crazy to see how Annie was just ONE person away from the founding titan with her run in with Kenny.

B.G.

And now we know where Bertholt came up with the story that he told Eren when they first met. I totally missed that during my first viewing.

Hien Nguyen

Hmm why did the smiling titan not eat Bert? Good observation!

Adam Aucoin

next week bout to get lit!

Phillip

Reiner and Annie are 2 of my favorite characters and its hard to say that in season 1-2 without spoiling anything casue the are the bad guys at first Anne so badass...crosses paths with THREE Ackermans and lived to tell the story!!!

Eric Dean Draven

I think it is amazing how they told his story and showed his thoughts and looks when breaking the wall and suddenly, it's like pages and pages and pages of character development were added to Reiner here just from our empathy with him. It's like our mind fills in the blanks, what was not told, and suddenly we know Reiner top to bot, and it is not pretty, it hurts. I love this episode. Also do you know about the moon hero and solar hero? The Solar hero is protected, celebrated and adored by everyone on his side (in this case Eren) while the Lunar hero, who also tries to save the world, is shunned, refused status and brushed aside despite his best efforsts (Reiner). Reiner always wanted to be a hero but nothing goes right and then he realizes he is not an hero at all, it's the opposite of Eren up until this point. They are 2 sides of the same coin, one illuminated by the Sun, the other, by the Moon. Isayama represents this in the "suicide" scene of this episode, where the sun going in hides Reiner, who looks like only a shadow, hidden by the brightness of the sun, of the Solar hero.

Charles Malo

meanwhile, the soldier with the missing eye and leg talking to Falco is literally facing AT the sun while he's putting down his monologue of "no one deserves this, war is just pain on all sides, but some things are inevitable, and you just have to keep going forward." which is the exact same line that reiner said to eren coincidentally (wink wink lol), and that line is paralleling that reiner tried to off himself, and he himself was about to give up to all his pain and depression but then in a single moment of Falco crying out in pain (like reiner did as a kid), Reiner's realizing that HE has to keep going forward, even if it's not for his own sake, but for the sake of the children under his wing.

Charles Malo

Yeah, he was even asking "i always wondered why that old man told us the this story about how he found out about the titans, and how he lost his 3 childrens left behind" and now we know that even this random line of dialogue has severe background plot enrichment, like, how did these 3 honorary marleyan warriors come in and infiltrate and create a backstory for the incident so accurately that no one questioned it for a while, without knowing how the world within the walls operated as... not only that, but it supplied them with a backstory for IDENTITIES to assume, the 3 lost children that were never seen again after the attack, which was discussed when Hange was doing a backgroudn check on those 3 when uncovering the allies of the female titan (2x6 episode)

Charles Malo

And what's worse is that the "everyone loses in war, no one deserves this... but you take the suffering and KEEP MOVING ON." and if both sides KEEP MOVING ON, then it's just a never ending cycle of violence of 1 side trying to justify the pain they cause to the other side, it's a zero sum game, no one wins at that unless both side agree to break the wheel, and put their faith in the other side... except that each side would be wary about the other side taking advantage of that lowered guard and strike, so they'll always be on edge, ready to explode at the sight of any spark (quite literally in the case of the titans)... it's like that old philosophical story of a hunter coming across another hunter in the forest. Both are out to survive, and one has to assume that the other hunter is out to survive, and whether they can communicate with eachother or not, each side assumes the other must ensure their own survival, and so the only option is to eliminate the enemy as soon as you them, and not take the risk, except that if you thought of that outcome , then they thought of that outcome too, so now the window to communicate and show trust and find something to collaborate on shrinks indefinitely because now it's a race to "who can pull the trigger first when they see the other hunter, the other version of themselves, in that forest.." And to quote something that i wont reference from where "these children and hunters go out into the woods and sometimes they get lost in those woods... it's up to the experienced generation to shoulder the sins of their own hunters so that the new buds can bloom." , it's all connected. Whats worse is that those 2 same hunters, if they met at a bar or coffee shop, they'd probably be able to talk about their hunts and adventures and find mutual grounds between them because they managed to find the commonality between while not being put into a defensive kill or be killed mode... the 2 could have been allies and friends, but they happened to meet in the woods, and now the environment that they found themselves in is eliminating any other alternative lifestyle they could have shared, because it no longer became 2 humans meeting, but 2 predators meeting.

Arthur Choi

It's kinda crazy to think about what was going through Reiner's mind at the moment when he first ran through the gates. He wasn't thinking about killing a bunch of island devils/saving the world, nor was he contemplating the gravity of his actions. He was simply on autopilot (as Marcel/Warrior) going through the motions, while the real Reiner was overwhelmed with processing why Marcel apologized for making him a warrior when he believed his whole life that it was supposed to be an honor.

CZ2 Delta

Wow yeah I looked it up, seems like they add Japanese subs to their commentaries. That's weird, hope they can review this channel if it's done without their consent!

Phillip

how many people can walk away from 1 ackermann never mind 3 :P

JS

I love how this episode was written and directed. One of my favorites.

Cation

That Hobo guy at the end was spitting facts about how useless wars are and how frightening it is. This is one of my favourite episodes of season 4 part 1. Reiner is one of my favs and it hurts so much seeing what he had to go through. Remember we've seen him "break character" I think twice or maybe three times. Once when Marco got eaten and Reiner just loses it and asks why Marco is getting eaten. The second time is right before the big reveal in 2x6. Eren says something about his homeland and Reiner looks shocked and then Burrito reminds him that he is a warrior.

Frank Valentin

episodes 5,6,7 is the next group of ep you need to watch together!

Zakwan Khidzir

Apparently, many Japanese like that content because English is hard for them. I was told that some of them discovered these reactors through such channels. You can find some of them in the comment section once you sorted them by "newest".

Mariam

Not sure if this was already mentioned but Bert's odd sleeping position resembles a Tarot card called The Hanged Man. This card depicts an old method of punishment used for traitors in Italy and symbolises treason as well as martyrdom and sacrifice. This draws parallels between the cards meaning and his betrayal of humanity inside the walls as well as the sacrifices he had to make as a warrior. This could also be a reference to the man who hung himself that Bert keeps dreaming about. Another name for this card is also 'the traitor'.

Y'all continue to ask really good questions. So excited to see you start to get more and more information and start to put more theories together as you go. Some people don't like this season because of the abrupt change in perspective but I think it makes it really interesting and complex because what is this was season 1 of this show, we would absolutely think the Paradis people were the bad guys and the Warriors are the good guys trying to save the world

Alexander A

Y’all probably already watched it, but next episode has an after credit scene that’s important or the following episode will be confusing how it starts. I’m only saying because of a previously missed after credit scene which wasn’t as bad

PanjaMysy

I'm so glad you all are finally getting to see the other side of the story and finally understand why Reiner, Annie, and Bertholdt did what they did. Makes far more sense why Bertholdt's memories effected Armin so much.

Joaquin garcia

Dont forget that in the next episode there is a post credit scene.

Norberto Smirnoff

they are using kids cause its easier to manipulate them.. just look at every religion.. :)

Reggie Azem

Thats why this Show is the best of our generation. It enables the viewer's to Challenge their innate bias by speaking about real world conflicts. I don't even have to Say what we are all thinking. Isayama is Thee Goat

lafatte24

Do you guys remember back in episode 11 or something, when they had to clean up the bodies. There was a shot of just Annie apologising to some corpses. Takes on a whole new meaning/view now huh

DB

Y'all are so great. ♥

Haylo

"That hobo guy" is so funny in hindsight 😂 you're awesome!
