I think you guys should watch the erwin speech in dub also. It hits different in my opinion when you don’t have to read what he’s saying

0:53 Something that might have had people saying "huh" is Connie's reaction to Eren's house being destroyed. The reason for this is the pun he blurts out which he finds really funny. In Japanese One of the words for home (E) is pronounced "ie" or for english speakers something like "iye". Eren's surname and "House + Ga" is spoken almost the same way. (Do your research, others can explain it better than me) When Connie says "That could be Eren's house" it sounds just as if he said "That could be Eren's Yeager", hence why he found it so funny.

This doesn’t have to be on the channel, but you should react to Erwin’s speech in dub as well. Both are great, but when you don’t have to read his words, and can just listen it hits so hard.

And to expand a little, "ga" is a particle, similar to how "a", "an", "as", "of", "is" etc works in English, connecting everything from nouns to verbs. It would be a language lesson in itself to explain what "ga" is and how it functions, but just trust us that it makes sense, even if its a bit of a groaner of a pun.

Now, i will say this, to make a game out of murdering people you have to mentally find a way to not humanize them. So it feels better when you sleep. Some have already said this but please watch Erwin spech in dub. Probably the best dubed moment of any anime imo

Quite possibly the best Speech ever given in Anime., and Erwin knew he would have to charge with his soldiers, otherwise they wouldn't fight. That mountain of corpses hes standing on just got a little taller.

erwin died years ago but till this day no one got over his death, he has all qualities of being the best leader ever. and i felt so bad for him in this episode because he looked helpless, the erwin we know most of the time doesn’t show weakness so you don’t have to worry much about him bcs he always looked strong but in this episode it’s different. no matter how many times i rewatch this episode i get teary eyes every time I might sound so dramatic but i love this show it’s my favorite of all time and i love expressing my passion for it’s story and it’s characters 😭

I mean there’s nothing wrong with being selfish, i like characters that are honest. Anybody who says they would give their lives for the greater good is a liar. As for Erwin giving his life, there was literally no other choice. He wasn’t gonna be able to reach that basement anyway. The only way for anyone in that group to see the basement was for Erwin to do what he did. So he’s not really giving up his selfishness

The difference between Annie and Reiner/Bert I would say is that she enjoys the killing. The creativity and variety she exhibited in dispatching people when she could just do quick efficient kills (which I’m sure she’s entirely capable of) kind of shows that.

So the reason he's a conman still is because he mentioned earlier that his goal was only ever to get to the truth of this world, which is in the basement. He doesn't actually care about the noble goals of humanity and saving it and such, he just wants the truth. He's out here convincing these soldiers to ride directly into death for their comrades and humanity but his actual goal is never that noble.
