⛤ August Q&A (Patreon)
Content
look at me posting the Q&A for the month in that same month! I am on top of this shit. and the cat is on top of me so I can barely reach the keyboard from here. this little snuggle bug absolutely will not let me do anything. just be a lap kitty and purr purr purr all day. I could do with being woken up a little less frequently at night but who can stay mad at this absolute little fuzzy butt
you can't, can you?
you guys sent in some very interesting questions this week, some of which had me thinking a while.
Do you like Kate Bush? I understand Kate Bush has gained popularity again recently due to Stranger Things, but she made her debut way before my time and never got popular enough in Germany to be played in mainstream media. So she wasn't on my radar then and is hardly interesting to me now.
Do you like caves? Caves are very interesting, especially the ones with all the shiny rocks growing inside. Haven't thought of taking up spelunking as a hobby yet, but I will never pass up a potential photo op. Some of the most interesting, moody pictures I ever took were in a cave.
Is Jack interested in cosplay? No.
What's after nano? Like if you made a smaller version of something nano, what would you call it? Smaller than nano? Wouldn't that just be atomic? I know it doesn't have the same ring as all the previous scales of measure, but I feel like if you wanna go smaller than nano, you'll find yourself in molecular or atomic territory.
What bands/artists have you been listening to lately? Same old, mostly. A lot of Type O Negative (I have to work on a new mixtape, been listening to the same one for two years), Nightwish, with a little peppering of The Cure and The Marchesa Casati who sadly never got discovered despite their unique and magnetic goth and post-punk sound. I'd love to hear more of them. Been playing Snakes and Fashion Must Die on loop while getting ready for nights out since I discovered them. So catchy and moody.
Ally I’m curious, do they teach Scandinavian history in German schools? No, they really do not. All I remember from history class in all my school experience is a bunch of Nazi Germany stuff (gotta keep reminding kids that genocide is bad!), some medieval central European stuff, and ancient Rome for some reason.
Does Jack like sports? Jack is about as interested in sports as I am, meaning he would do literally anything else before watching or engaging in a sport. We are very compatible.
Do you like to train travel? I like the overromanticized and idealized concept of train travel. Watching the scenery go by while enjoying some fine picnic or maybe writing some poetry about my journey on the way to do some business in a far off city... the modern reality of train travel is sadly quite obnoxious and stressful. People blasting their music, facetiming or watching shitty YouTube videos without headphones, filling cars with the nauseating smell of shitty energy drinks, inattentive parents ignoring their screeching offspring to the detriment of the other passengers, not to mention refusing to wear a face mask in a confined, hardly ventilated space in the middle of a global pandemic, smoking a foot and a half away from the open train door and generally showing sub-zero consideration for the people around them. Society is a construct that requires the cooperation of every single individual to be tolerable. Too many individuals just being complete asshats ruin the experience for everyone. I guess it beats air travel. At least I don't get barely understandable instructions screamed at me by a burnt out TSA agent already pissed off at me for being confused about where to place my shoes and which way to stand in the x-ray machine. What a dehumanizing experience to start and end a ten hour journey with no sleep and barely enough sustenance to not drop dead. I'm looking at you, United. Delta will literally feed you every two hours...
Do you like TikTok pasta? I don't have TikTok and don't know what TikTok pasta is. I guess it's another viral recipe or hack I am hardly missing out on. I think it would be difficult to fuck up pasta anyway. Unless you don't cook it long enough. Nothing worse than biting into a piece of "al-dente" pasta and going
which is 100% what will happen if you follow the instructions on the package. I have never cooked pasta by the included instructions and not had to wait like 10 more minutes for it to become edible. My conspiracy theory is that these instructions are secretly written for a pressure cooker, as there is no other physical way to achieve said results in the estimated time frame. But that's just my two cents.
Are you guys as excited for spooky season as I am? We went grocery shopping this morning and decided to get a drive-thru coffee for a change. When we pulled up I about lost it and caught myself shouting "IT'S PUMPKIN SEASON" about three seconds too late to stop myself when I saw the new menu. In case you didn't know, I am a highly excitable person. Especially when it comes to pumpkin. I'm looking forward to cooler weather where the sun isn't burning down like a rotisserie, though that may be another month off. What's your usual coffee order?
As always, wear your sun screen and stay cool until the next cool video comes out. Unless you're in the southern hemisphere, in which case, wear your sunscreen anyway and bundle up until it's your turn under the rotisserie! 🍸 cheers
