A Prayer To The Earth (Patreon)

August has been a hell of a month for so many people I know. I, myself, have been through an unexpected, thankfully brief, suicidal phase last month. Many people experience pressure and burden that seem unmanageable. We know we need help, but we don't know who to ask (that wouldn't try to lock us up or isn't already overloaded themselves). 

When all these things come together, I turn to the Earth, which is the closest I'll ever come to feeling my roots. I wrote this prayer/chant to make the process I went under to ground and center myself tangible, so as to be able to repeat/recreate it in the future. Scroll to the bottom for the full text. 

When I feel like I can't handle life anymore, what helps me is connecting with the Earth. From her I draw energy, remember who I am (as opposed to who society tells me I am), and into her I release the things that are weighing me down. This prayer is meant to instill a feeling of connection to something much, much greater and much more powerful than ourselves and remind us that there's only so far we can fall. We will always hit the ground and from there we can reevaluate our lives and get up again. The Earth has always supported us every step of the way. We can't rise from rock bottom without her also lifting us up. Our life - our decisions - our challenges. But wherever we decide we want to go, she is there, enabling us to do so. It is through her that we've incarnated, survived and created. Remembering this gives me a sense of safety and reassurance. 

Go be alone in nature and listen to this. Or hold a ritual connecting with the Earth and use this prayer to shift your energy. Let her carry the weight of the world for you by resting on her, feel your feet on the ground and know that any burden you're bearing, she is supporting you fully, always holding all of it for you and through you. 

As for the visuals - I made a little setup with a scarf, dried roses and my precious spelled candle. It dispels negativity and ill intent from others and gives me ASMR just having it lit in the room. Not sure how well the tingles translate through video, but its magical properties remain. By now it's burnt almost all the way down so I'm glad I captured it on video for you. Next time, I need to get a bigger candle. I tried many variations of whispering to fit this video, but none of them were quite impactful enough until I wrote this prayer.

Also, I had to get real creative to minimize obnoxious mouth noises and recorded this whispering lying down. It's more exhausting than you'd think. Mostly because you're very focused on enunciating while moving your mouth very, very minimally to bypass both the saliva clicks and the weird 'guh' noise your mouth makes when the back of your tongue touches the back of your mouth as you try to speak. Maybe I just have a small (and very wet) mouth? Either way, I sincerely hope once I get that 3dio the experience won't be ruined by it exaggerating my already frustrating mouth sounds. Cause I tried all kinds of crazy shit to get this saliva problem under control. 

I hope you will benefit from this grounding tool as much as I have. I owe so much to this candle alone - it got me through the worst back in August and never fails to purify anything its light touches.
