TLDR: 

  • More story!
  • Added Combat Debuffs / Skills / Sounds
  • Optimized/Polished Combat World / GUI
  • Improved Saving / Save menu
  • Improved Character Art (Grizz/Juleon most impacted)
  • Tweaked some settings for Android (better image quality / less crashing)
  • Change how characters render (future dressing room / armor swap feature?)

Art:

  • Significant improvements to Juleon and Grizz :)
  • Changes to combat world GUI.
  • Added another animated monster ^_^
  • Also animated one other thing. Let’s see if you can spot it :D

Changes in Character Rendering:

  • So I’ve been experimenting with how to enable a dressing room / clothing swap feature without adding a million extra sprites. I succeeded in doing so with the current implementation (each article of clothing as an overlay). However, it does affect the frame rates which I’m not thrilled about so I’m going to continue looking into how to optimize this. This could mean some cool things in the future.

Combat:

  • “Feared”, “Stunned” ect… explained (until I implement a tutorial).
    • There is now a chance to apply such effects on some abilities. If the effect applies, it will display combat text (Example: “Stunned”) then clicking the character will show it under the debuff section (the skull) in the target window.
    • Once the character’s turn comes up it will show something like:
    • (- Stunned)
    • And then skip that character’s turn.
    • I’m gonna think about how to make this more obvious but I wanted to let you guys know what’s happening with the new debuffs :)
  • Sounds:
    • Added sounds for all abilities.
    • Combat Text:
    • Made text for debuffs / status effects
  • Animations:
    • Improved / added new animations for new spells/debuffs.
  • Significant Skill Changes:
    • Poison Cloud - Now has a chance to spread to multiple enemies
    • Death Smoke -  Now has a chance to blind enemy for 1 turn

Debuffs:

  • Feared -  Prevent afflicted character from attacking for one turn.
  • Blinded -  Prevent afflicted character from attacking for one turn.
  • Poison -  Does X damage to afflicted character during their turn
  • Bleed-  Does X damage to afflicted character during their turn

Skills:

  • Friendly:
    • "Liebe" :desc "Rein fires a rending shot. Chance to bleed. (Lp mod: +1 bleed stack)"
    • "Death Smoke." :desc "Hit enemy for 4-5 damage. (Chance to blind enemy for 1 turn)"
    • "Ball of Love" :desc "A love that transcends dimensions. <3 3-10 damage."
    • "Healing Paws!" :desc "Heal whole team for 1-3 damage. (Lp mod: 2-4 damage)"
    • "Poison Cloud" :desc "1-2 initial damage. Applies poison. (Chance to poison multiple enemies.)"
    • "Bombs Away!" :desc "Hit a guy for 2-5 damage. (Lp mod: 3-6 damage.)"
    • "Mend a dude!" :desc "Be a bro and heal target for 4-10 HP."
    • "Block a guy." :desc "Grizz uses his burly bod to block for you. (Lp mod: +1 block)"
  • Enemy:
    • "Burn!" :desc "Blow sh** up. (Hit party for x damage)"
    • "Fire-vortex!" :desc "Dragon stuff. (Hit party for x-y damage)"
    • "Fire!" :desc "Hit 1 member of party for X damage"
    • "Shadow-skull!" :desc "Hit 1 member of party for X damage (Chance to apply Fear.)"

Now I've passed the second monster!! I also loved the new combat system. If you acept a suggestion, allow the rename of the save files, because it will help to control where we stopped and play multiple "lines" of game.

It's looking nice and the combat is fun and the story is good too. It bombed a bunch of times for me during the dungeon fights (osx), and the auto save was corrupted. I did get to the end though after several tries.<br><br>Edit: Loading new saves seems to always abort immediately.

Hey man, sorry about that. This sounds like the same issue the Android build was having before I turned off Unitys crash reporting system. I just uploaded an osx 0.07.03 version with that feature disabled. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes :)

Ah yah, forgot to mention I buffed Gear and nerfed boss! And I'll be looking into naming saves for sure.

Hey there :) Just completed everything so far and I definetly like it - the overhauled combat feels really smooth, it's quite a jump from the last to this patch, keep it up and you got yourself a really enjoyable turn-based RPG Combat system there :3 I also think the new Icons and spell effect fit well and I like the animated Health bars (the plain red bars in the last update felt a bit static^^) Even though I can't say much about the problems with save files, because I prefer to play new builds of games that are still in development to avoid incopatibility problems and to see if somehow content or scripts that were already finished got corrupted or mixed up, I found some bugs - even though they are just minor ones and dthey don't cause much trouble. Well and I think the Death-Seeker seems quite... easy? now?^^ He wasn't much of a challenge this time, but that could just be me. I'll make a list of the bugs I've encountered tomorrow and send it via direct message. All in all this update added and overhauled quite a lot and much more than I expected. I'm thrilled to see what else you'll come up with. And btw the story so far is really good. I at least liked it :P Keep it up and good work! :)

Thanks for the feedback :) I'm happy you said something about the health bars as I was worried people might not like the colors. I'm gonna look into making a Dropbox or something for bug reports so it's easier for people :3
