As she pulled up to the familiar house she'd spent her entire childhood in, Miri felt both relieved and fatigued after the events of the morning. She moved slowly, heaving her shapely, gelatinous body up and onto its feet and waddling around to the back of the car to remove the bags from the trunk. Panting from the heat and the strain of the unwanted physical exercise, she paused to think about whether or not she should ring the doorbell. She looked over at the flower garden, now completely overrun with weeds and dried up in several areas due to lack of tending in her absence. This made her only kind of sad, but only out of sentimentality for one of the few shared activities she had shared with her mom. Deciding not to make anyone get up just to let her in, she fumbled around in her purse to find her keys, finally sliding the house key into the lock with swollen, fat fingers and puffy hands.
She entered and called out "I'm home!"

Initially, there was no response from anywhere in the house as Miri sat down on the stairs by the doorway to take off her shoes. She nonchalantly moved a bouquet of still-wrapped dresses from the side of the stairs to make room to sit, barely finding enough space to fit the full 4-foot spread of her ass, completely used to the feeling of her body pressing against the inside of the wooden banister rails to the point of barely noticing it. With her feet bare, she sighed momentarily, preparing herself to stand back up from her low-seated position.

"Hoo......Okay." She said, followed by a weak, squeaky grunt and a push forward, lifting her enormous body off the steps with her weak, fatty arms assisting from the rails.
As she gained her footing, the winded Asian girl began making her way to the kitchen for a snack, panting slowly as she waded through the piles of trash, food, and clothing cluttering the living room and burying most of the couch and coffee table. Then, spying an overfilled bowl of candy, she picked it up and cradled it over her massive, soft belly, reaching in and stuffing handfuls of M&Ms into her mouth on her way to the kitchen.

Miri was still pulling out bags and boxes full of sweet junk and sugary pastries when her dad walked in from the garage and greeted her cheerily.

"Ayyy! There you are! How was having your own place?"

"Oh hey!" She chirped, her mouth already bulging with a chewed up Swiss roll.

George and Miri had always gotten along well, but didn't get to spend much time together after he'd began staying in another city for work. This always made his homecoming and time spent with him extra special to his fat and spoiled daughter. He'd always been the one to take her out for ice cream when she was little, and increasingly so as a teenager whenever she suggested it, and having learned what a lover of food Miri had become, consistently brought snacks home to her.

Miri scanned him up and down, realizing as she hugged him just how long she'd been away and just what three or so months could do. In her absence, she was shocked to see that he too was sporting a round ball of a belly rather than the soft, but only slightly protruding waistline she had been used to growing up. While his arms had previously been firm and tight, they now seemed to have some plush give to them as she felt them wrap under her arms to hug her, not even coming close to reaching all the way around her wide body.

"Jeez piglet, I thought you woulda dropped a couple sizes with all the moving you had to do," he jabbed playfully.
"I don't think I've ever seen my little girl so round. You look bigger than Mom now!"

"Oh WHAT-EVER!" Miri laughed, her cheeks rosy from the heat of the house and her increased activity level since getting home.

"I was only moving for like three days and it's not like I'm really active at home anyways. Besides, I haven't been smaller than mom since I graduated."

She paused for a second, thinking about it. It was a funny realization for Miri to hear herself admit just how long she'd outweighed the fattest, laziest woman she'd ever known. She'd been told for years by family and friends that she and Lori were exactly alike, but she had never really considered that to be true until she'd moved out on her own.

Turning her eyes back to her dad, Miri could stop staring at the curve of his stomach and the slight, but barely noticeable chubbiness coating his chest.
"And what about you? You lose your gym membership or something? You have a belly now! When did that happen?"
Her tone was meant to be playful, but she felt a little bad at how much energy she'd put into the statement, but he shrugged it off.

"Yeah, shut up. I work for a living." He said dismissively. It wasn't a good cop out, but it stopped him from needing to admit to gaining weight.

"Where IS mom anyways?" She asked, trying not to just assume that she was in bed watching tv.

"She's upstairs. Probably has her headphones on though, so she might not have heard you. Need help up the stairs?" George asked, genuinely trying to helpful.

Miri didn't even realize the potential for an insult and instead cheerfully stated, "nah, I'm good. I'll be fine, but thank you."

Her dad gave her another hug and headed back towards the garage.
"Alright, I'm gonna head back to do the thing. I'll be done in a bit."

Miri stuffed her face for a couple more minutes before resolving to head upstairs. She paused at the door of the stairway, preparing herself for the difficult climb, knowing full well that her body was years beyond being built for steps. Slowly and laboriously, she hoisted her wobbling legs upward, her gigantic stomach adding extra weight as it poured over her already weak legs. Halfway up to the second floor, a red-faced Miri panted and wheezed as she rested, tired, but completely undeterred from making it all the way up.

She had grown used to fatigue since she'd begun gaining weight and no longer beat herself up over being winded. It was just to be expected of a woman. Especially one her size, she thought casually.

She reached the top slowly and gasped for a few moments, sweating from the heat and hunching over to catch her breath with her legs spread wide to allow her impressive belly room and thereby giving her lungs room to expand enough to catch her breath.

Seeing that her mom's bedroom door was open, she waddled inside to say hi, the sheer wideness of her body forcing her legs apart and rippling side to side as she did so.
As Miri had expected, Lori slouched in bed with a pair of headphones on, looking bored as she ran her finger across a touchpad of a laptop that sat atop a wide, bed-like belly. Her hair was messy, even greasy looking as she typed away on her laptop, mindlessly shoveling chips into her mouth from one of several open bags lying on a pair of TV trays next to her. Lori's thighs had grown thick with flab, melting onto the bed and forcing her to lay wide-legged to allow her fat gut to pool between them.

The room itself was bright but humid, much like Miri's living room back had been at the apartment. It was cleaner than she expected, especially considering the state of the rest of the house. Before she’d left, there had been piles of trash that flooded all the nightstands and only a path from the bed to the door exposed the crumby, littered, and stained carpet, matter with spilled drinks and stepped on candy.  Miri knew how difficult cleaning was, and took some pity, but expected that without her spritely teenager to clean up for her, the house was doomed to get worse. Instead, it seemed that someone had been picking up after her mom after all.

"Hey, I'm home, Miri attempted, but to no avail.
She tried again to get her mom's attention, only to fail again before turning on the light and breaking her concentration, a soft, but broad smile appearing on her face as she saw her daughter enter the room.

"Oh hi! I didn't see you come in!" She chirped, setting her computer on the side and pulling her cottage cheese tree trunks underneath her to sit up.

"Hey! My chubby baby is home!" She cooed, leaning thickly over to give Miri a hug, with each twist of her body throwing mounds of fat towards the side of the bed before wobbling back into place.

Miri smiled, happily hugging her mom and noting the genuine enthusiasm she had for seeing her, even going so far as to skip the obligatory body scan that Miri herself felt slightly bad for conducting herself.

"Heyy mom." She said as Lori stepped back, now making a grand gesture of looking her daughter up and down.

"Oh my goooosh, look at you! My little piglet got HUGE! I love your dress!" Lori swooned.

"Yeahhh, I gained a bit while I was away...." She conceded.

Lori's chipper demeanor remained accommodating.
"Oh don't worry about that at all! You look so good! It's natural for girls to get a little chubby when they get older. Especially when they have an appetite like you haha." She laughed happily, her fat cheeks almost making her eyes appear squinted when she smiled.

"Oh I know, believe me. We just got into that a few weeks ago with one of the girls I met out there trying to lose weight." Miri replied.

"Oh jeez. How'd that go?" Lori asked.

"Not well of course. She lost a little bit, then rebounded FAST.  Saw her this morning fatter than ever, wolfing down fast food." Miri recounted, grinning at the futility of Megan's tantrums and diet.

"Well I'm glad she gave that up then. That's no way to live." Lori stated with a mix of confidence and what almost looked like concern or judgment.

Miri rolled her eyes.
"Ohhhh my gawd yeah. That shit was ridiculous. Non-stop complaining about her weight and her diet and how everyone else wasn't trying to slim down with her. People like that need to be taken out behind the chemical sheds and put out their misery."

Lori raised an eyebrow, this time clearly in judgment of her daughter's callousness.
"You mean people like you?"

This time it was Miri's turn to raise an eyebrow.
"Uhhh, me? Really? Have you SEEN me? I'm the LAST person to bitch getting people to diet, let alone try one."

"Oh yeah, maybe now," Lori began.
"But you weren't always like that. I remember when you turned 14 and started to finally pad those ribs of yours and all you DID was cry about getting fat."

Miri groaned slightly, equally annoyed at her past self for being so stupid and at her mom for calling her out on it.

"You cried to your friends, you cried to grandma Nari, and you even yelled at me for it! Like it was MY fault."

"Yeah, well, at least I still ate. Like, I wasn't trying to starve myself like this chick." Miri bargained, eager to not remember all of the things her mom was telling her about a time she barely remembered.

"Yeah, you ate, but it still wasn't enough to cry over. You stayed small for almost a year after that. I tried to tell you that's just what happens to girls once they hit puberty, but you didn't want to hear it." Lori continued with a condescending, I-told-you-so kind of smugness.

Miri, now interested and reflecting on her originally poor handling of the Megan situation, asked, "Well....what'd you guys do about it?"

Lori sat back down on the bed, plopping down heavily in her stretchy panties with the high waistband and a massive, cream-colored bra.

"I wanted to be a good mom and not tell you what to do, so I listened and let you do what you wanted. Every time you felt sad, you got some ice cream and complained about your weight or emptied out the candy bowl when you got on the phone with Trish. If I pointed out that you were still eating or reminded you not to break your diet whenever you had a craving, you would get mad at me."

"Mmmph. Yeah. Sorry about that," Miri groaned, embarrassed.

"I figured you were starting to eat more and more, and you were still outgrowing your clothes, so I just let it run it's course. If I tried to stop it, you'd just get more sick, but I left it alone, and after six months you'd calmed down and turned into a greedy little piglet." Lori stated with an obvious amount of pride at the end of her sentence.

"Huh. Yeah, I guess." Miri said, finally tired of standing and settling onto a little spot on the floor by the doorway, looking up at the bed.

"Yeah, I got mad at Meg. I like, got into it with her and tried to play her game. That didn't work at all. At least kid me didn't get chewed out for not doing what someone else wanted."

"Well, yeah," Lori started.
"But not everyone is the same and not everyone will fit your mold."

Miri felt a twinge of guilt at that last statement.

"I hope you're not disappointed in me? I still feel stupid a lot of the time. Hell, my friends were telling me that while I was looking for how to enroll at the community college. I couldn't figure out where the website directory was and they got all on me for it."

"Well if you focused on schoolwork instead of your waistline that first year, maybe you would be a little smarter." Lori joked, her face screwed up into an exaggerated, mock-sneer.

Miri reached over to a stack of boxes and pulled out a pack of ding dongs, stuffing them into her mouth and keeping the box on her lap.

"I dunno," she mumbled, her mouth still full.
"I just didn't care about that stuff."

"And that's fine," Lori said in an accommodating voice she used almost exclusively on her spoiled daughter.

"If we wanted a doctor, we would have ignored who you were and just forced you to do it. We were more concerned with making sure you didn't end up anorexic or something. It didn't matter if you had to redo a few classes."

Unflattered, the gigantically fat layabout furrowed her brow as she ate, sarcasm surging in her voice.

"You mean that it was okay that I was stupid, as long as I was still getting fatter."

Lori sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Well if you want to put it that way, then yes. Me and your dad thought you weren't gonna graduate, so were planning on you dropping out. We had the money to take care of you till you settled into your body, and then when you turned 18 we could help get you a job as a secretary for your dad. But you wanted to go try being out on your own, so after you surprised us by getting your diploma, we let you and now you're back."

It was true.
Barely graduating high school had made Miri a little insecure, and she'd resolved to finally see what it was like to have an apartment of her own. College was a good opportunity, sure, but really what Miri wanted most was a vehicle to make friends and have new experiences.
It was nice for a while, she thought, and she'd made good friends in Monica and Tawny, but keeping up with bills and upkeep of the apartment was getting to be a pain. Part of her wanted to just give up and move back in, but she knew that if she did that she’d never leave again and end up glued to her bed 24/7 like her mom.

"So you're not disappointed that I didn't go skydiving or take up kung fu or invent a phone or something like that?" She asked.

"Not at all. In fact, I'm very proud of you for getting out on your own and being a grown up. It wouldn't be fair to you to complain about your hobbies when I just sit here and play on my computer anyways." Lori explained, looking almost pained by the sappy turn the conversation had taken.

"Hm..." Miri thought for a second.

"Do you ever wish you could still go do all the things you used to? Like adventuring and jumping around and sports and stuff?"

Lori began scooting back to her spot by the computer and said, "Sometimes. But then I think about why and I think it's just because I used to.
Sometimes I would go to plant flowers or go for a walk and it just bored me. I stopped doing those things because I stopped caring about them. I'd rather do what Is rather than force myself to do things I don't care about just because I used to do it years ago. Besides, neither of us are ever really going to be thinner than this and you're still gaining, so what would be the point?"

She picked up the computer and set it back on her lap, grabbing her headphones as she did.

"Well, you go get comfy while I order some food.

Miri paused. “Hey, can I ask you something?”

Lori lifted her chin without looking away from her phone. “Hm?”

“Has someone been cleaning your room for you while I was gone?” Miri asked.

Lori scoffed and made a face. “What, I can’t clean my room every once in a while?”

Miri didn’t respond. She merely stood still and blinked at her mom several times before trying to come up with a rational, polite way to say that her statement didn’t seem possible, let alone true. She didn’t need to however, as Lori ‘s poker face shattered into laughter at her daughter’s dumbstruck face.

“Hahahahahaha! No, we hired a housekeeper about two weeks ago. She’s really only finished this room and the bathrooms but she’s doing a great job everywhere. In fact, she should still be downstairs somewhere so don’t be surprised if you see a black girl touching our stuff. That’s just Bonnie.”

Miri polished off her fifth pack of dingdongs and shoved herself up from the ground, taking in the view of the newly clean room as opposed messy pig sty her mom normally resided in.

“Oh. Well, that’s good to know. At least someone’s taking care of you guys. I’m gonna head back down for a bit and see if I can’t get some real food in me.” Miri said. “These are good but I need something salty to counter the sweetness.”

Lori nodded and rocked her massive body backward onto a pile of indented pillows, picking her laptop back up and setting it on her massive blob of a belly. By then it was normal for people to come and go in and out of her room all day, so she didn’t see any reason to make much ceremony about her daughter up and leaving when it suited her.

She waddled slowly, heavily to the stairs, wheezing and grunting from the exertion of moving her massive pear of a body. Enormously doughy arms held her up as she made her way down, her neck now a doubled over ring of flab as she tucked her chin to see over her belly.

As she made her way to the bottom of the stairs, she noticed that the housekeeper Bonnie was indeed still puttering around in an attempt to organize the living room. She was cute, Miri thought. She was rail thin and had lots of puffy, curly hair that bounced slightly as she moved about. She’d actually done a good amount of work on the living room, Miri noticed. Gone were the piles of junk and trash left behind by her and her parents, though much of it still needed washed or wiped down. Upon seeing her coming down the stairs, Bonnie smiled and waved at Miri who returned the gesture.

“Haay.” The dark skinned girl called out softly with a subtly raspy ‘black girl sweetheart’ voice.

“Hi. I’m Miri. I’m George and Lori’s daughter.” She said, still lumbering down towards the kitchen to feed her already growling stomach.

“I’m Bonnie, the housekeeper. I heard you’d be visiting today so I tried to clean up as much as I could but haven’t gotten to the kitchen yet. Still, it’s nice to meet you!” Bonnie replied cheerily.

“Oh, no worries.” Miri smiled. “This place looks nicer than I’ve seen it in years, so you’re doing amazing. Just make sure you don’t let my mom try to feed you while you’re here. She’s got a thing for trying to get folks to eat.”

Bonnie chuckled and rolled her eyes. “Oh trust me, she took one look at me on my first day and told me I was too skinny. My family’s full of bigger girls so I’m used to it, but I still gotta learn to resist the urge to snack while I’m here. Too much food available if I wanna keep my figure.”

“Trust me, I know FAR too well what that’s like.” Miri said, patting her massive belly and causing it to ripple more than she’d really intended.

As she padded heavily, but daintily out of the kitchen, she passed through the living room where there was a table with a picture of Miri and a few chubby teens in their sophomore year of high school smiling at a pizza party.

"Wow... I was TINY back then." Miri thought aloud, thinking back to how much attention she paid to her growing waistline while still failing to resist the urge to constantly eat.
She recalled the moment of her resignation, staring down in her underwear over a chubby belly and actual, undeniable fat girl thighs at a bathroom scale. Only a month after her 16th birthday, Miri had fattened up to 168 pounds despite her best efforts to stay thin.
It was then that she realized that getting fat was just a fact of life for women after a certain age. Not bad or ugly; just something that happened.

She thought of what her mom told her and smiled at her acceptance. Miri pulled out a dish containing a leftover casserole and removed the saran wrap to sniff it and make sure it hadn’t gone bad.

“Hey Bonnie? Do you know if this pasta is still good?” She called, unable to discern it’s state from scent alone.

“Yeah, it should be fine. Your mom had me eat some last night. It’s heavy, but really good.” The housekeeper called from the living room.

Miri spooned out a generous portion and plopped it onto a plate, shaking her head.

“Of course she did. If you’re falling for that then I guarantee you’ve already started putting on weight without even knowing it.” The obese Korean girl said to herself.

She spent the rest of her visit eating and watching tv on the couch while her dad periodically floated in and out of the room. It wasn’t much of a visit, she realized, but it did feel like she had never moved away, which was nice. Every so often Lori would call for more food to be brought up, and on conditioned response, Miri would start to get up only for Bonnie to kindly tell her that she was on it.

It was obvious that Bonnie’s time with her family had softened up her figure a bit. Before Miri had moved away, her mom had hired on the housekeeper in order to keep her company and to take care of the increasing mess in her stead. Back then she’d been rail thin and full of energy, but after just a few months she sported a visible muffintop and a pair of generously flabby thighs. Now she moved up and down between rooms with moderate speed while carrying treats, drinks, and meals, but not nearly as quickly as before and with just the slightest bit of exhaustion every time she made the trip.

“Poor girl.” Miri muttered. “At the rate she’s gaining it won’t be long before those stairs are too much for her. Oh well. That’s what happens.”

She looked at the time and considered heading back home after she said her goodbyes, but decided to finish just one more episode of her show before doing so. The couch was comfy and familiar and as much as she didn’t want to admit it, the supersized college student did miss the time she’d spent right where she was as a teen. Eventually, she managed to hoist herself up from her spot and make her way up the stairs to say goodbye to her parents. Her dad was cheery as usual, but seemed sad to see his daughter go. Lori on the other hand was as casual as ever, treating the departure like an every day occurrence and not having much of a reaction outside of standard hugs and kisses.

“Have fun, piglet.” She said. “But watch how much you eat, ok? You get any bigger and you’ll end up like me.”

“Oh?” She asked, pressing her mom to admit that she may have become too big for even her to make an excuse for.

“You know what I mean. I can barely get out of bed and walk around these days. You keep eating like you do and you’ll be the same.”

Miri shrugged. “Tell that to your housekeeper. Bonnie looks like she’s gained a hundred pounds since she started working for you.”

Miri knew full well that her mom could get up if she wanted to. She just…didn’t want to. Between the two of them, Miri was the fatter woman, but she also exercised enough to be able to support her own weight. It really was just like Lori to use her weight as an excuse to not have to exert any physical effort in any aspect of her life.

With heavy footsteps and aching thighs, Miri made her way down the stairs for the final time. She hugged Bonnie goodbye on the way out, noticing the clear mashing of the smaller girl’s flabby stomach against her own and thinking that the flabby housekeeper didn’t have long before she needed a skinny maid of her own.

With one last look at her childhood home, Miri got in the car, ready to resume her life as an adult.
