IMPORTANT: Edited Chapter 116

Demise Country → Country of Demise

The Story of A Certain Soldier

"Now then, I managed to contact Hardt-sama. As everybody had heard, we shall proceed as planned. Nero-sama"

"Aah, preparation is ready. The aforementioned squad has also been sneaked into the Dead Spirit squad"

"Thank you. Hardt-sama may have gathered the numbers for us, but be that as it may, there is still much difference in numbers. Furthermore, the Angels are lying in wait at the back after all. We have to kill them efficiently and increase the number of soldiers. Everybody, I am counting on you"

 ◇◇◇

"This is a Holy Battlee!! One for the sake of subjugating the Devil who performed the all too foolish act of foolishly declaring war to our Goddess Fistoria-sama!!"

The Holy Kingdom's General uses a Magic Tool which can transmit his voice far away and shouts. The troops of the country called the Devil Country Pandemonium, that's said to have declared war on the Holy Kingdom one month ago, had formed rows before our eyes.

It's just that, the soldiers lining up aren't ordinary soldiers. There are no living soldiers amongst the soldiers; at the very front, zombies, whose flesh rotted and turned purple, had worn leather armour and formed rows, and behind them, skeletons that are nothing but bones had equipped armour and lined up.

"Magic Squad forwardd!!!"

Looking at the sight of them lining up orderly despite being monsters, I ended up unconsciously swallowing my saliva, but the General shouted without flinching.

There's no pre-war speech or whatnot in this time's battle. It's because the Devil Country have already declared war on us, and our opponents are monsters.

The Magicians swiftly go out to the front row. All of them either hold their hands out or bring Magic Tools that serve as amplifiers out to the front and start their incantation.

"Fireeeee!!!"

And then, the Magic was released all at once at the same time as the General's command. Magic of no less than 100 thousand in numbers, rain down above the monsters' heads.

However, in an instant, black smoke expanded above the monsters' heads, and the Magic didn't get to fall on the monsters. They all ended up being obstructed, absorbed by the black smoke. At the same time, the monsters start marching forward.

Their numbers may be about 100 thousand and are fewer than our side, but be that as it may, the movements on this side lagged because of the shock that the Magic was easily blocked. The monsters are heading straight over to this side.

"Tch, fire the next shot!"

The General gives the order to fire Magic once more at the monsters that are heading over. The Magicians cast their Magic again, obeying that order, but the Devil Country side ended up blocking it with the black smoke once more as well.

The General, who understood that it's meaningless to cast Magic any more than this, moves the Magicians to the back and sends the heavy infantries to the front. When the heavy infantries line up at the very front, 'whoomp', they plop shields that are big enough to cover people in front and create a wall.

The zombies that run at the forefront of the monsters charged over without showing any signs of being bothered by the wall of shields. However, though they're zombies, their size is about that of an adult human. Because quite a number of them collided into the shields, the sounds of the impact reverberate.

But, since the heavy infantries are used to it, they repel the collided zombies. The zombies that were blown away collided into the zombies behind, fell, and got squashed underneath the even more zombies that ran over from behind.

They may be combined troops, but be that as it may, they sure are able to coordinate quite well huh. Well, I might be thinking that way because the opponents are low-intelligence zombies and skeletons though.

"Chiliarch Lloyd. Is it about time for us to move as well?"

As I was looking at such a scene, the aide-de-camp who stands behind me, Gain, asked me something like that. I shake my head while sighing at those words.

"Idiot. There's no way a squad of mere thousand can move when there's a large army of several tens of thousands, right. Besides, there's no need to deliberately go and get in the way, when the big-shots of the respective countries, they're doing their best to look good in front of the Holy Kingdom, right. There's no reason to go and get injured for nothing either after all"

The heavy infantries stab their spears from the gaps of the shields at the fallen zombies. However, the opponents are zombies. They don't die that easily. Even now, the zombies are moving and trying to grab at them despite being impaled by the spears.

Ahー, are the infantries not used to monsters, furthermore, Dead Spirit-type monsters as their opponents? Unlike normal monsters, they don't possess a sense of pain. That's why, they won't flinch even if you stab their legs, stab their abdomen. If you're going to do it, you have to destroy their head.

"Aーah, they're being attacked from that corner. What are we going to do?"

"We aren't gonna do anything. We'll carry on to be on standby. There's no way we can go from here, right. Besides, the soldiers at the back are filling the hole. We might not have a turn today"

If we're just going by numbers, it's a military strength of nearly 5 times. We probably won't get a turn any time soon.

"More importantly, watch the enemy carefully. They're completely different from the opponents we took on thus far after all"

"What do you mean?"

"They're a country that picked a fight with the Holy Kingdom, you know? If you think about it normally, they aren't normal, right? Besides, they show no signs of running away even though Angels have come out. They probably have something that can win even the Angels. That's why, if you guys don't wanna die either, you better pay attention to that country, got it?"

I don't wanna die after all.
