Once upon a time, there was a wise king - an elderly monarch of a small kingdom. He had two sons: the older one being a handsome charmer, a skillful combatant, and a follower of elite fashion, the younger one quite the opposite - a secretive bookworm, a magical adept, and a stooped weirdo.
Thus it came as a surprise how the king named his younger son as his successor and inheritor of all his wealth.
The scrawny brother took the throne, whereas the lordly dandified prince withdrew into his underground complex.
The new king feared his older brother and took his rights as a commanding warlord, abolished his royal title, and deprived him of all his lands. This made the prince even more mad about luxury and fine-tuning his dungeon became his obsession. Over the years this high-minded megalomaniac has managed to pile up treasures of unimaginable exuberance.  Few people know, however, that the sorcerer-king’s fear is not without proof. Although the flexing prince set up a spectacular gallery and a Hall of Heroes to show off his wealth, the dungeons below his castle hide more rooms and prison cells than usual. The library jam-packed with books of hidden lore also might suit his younger brother more, but the initiates are aware of the presence of a wizard of a distant land in league with the high-minded prince out of favor.
Nobody knows what the boasting lord is up to, though. Is it time to figure out what this mindboggling flex is all about?

This map pack includes the first two scenes of a bigger dungeon. Part II is coming in September with the deeper areas.

As you can see from the title and the story, this pack is a little out of the ordinary, but this is intentional. Just in case this seems too silly for you, I've included the unfurnished version to put some kind of better story around it. :D

Dungeon locations:

I. Southern part of the dungeon

This part is more frequented and more in touch with the outside world.

1. Hall of Heroes

A wide staircase leads down into a hall adorned with statues, coat of arms, tapestries, full plates or armor, and weaponry. In the middle of the room, there is a wired glass flexing window looking down into a treasure room, just to show off to guests.

2. Holy place

This is one single room with weapons and different valuables belonging to family ancestors.

3. Private chapel

Hall of Heroes opens into a private chapel with glittering religious artifacts, rows of benches, and pillars. There is a hidden staircase behind the altar leading down to the lower level of the dungeon. (coming soon...)

4. Hidden guard room

There are two secret doors leading to this room from the staircase and the Hall of Heroes. Soldiers are stationed here during special events. There is a corridor leading to the northern part of the dungeon.

5. Guardroom

A smaller guardroom with a peeking hole to the Hall of Heroes.

6. Gallery

Pieces of art can be found on display here.

7. Library

Consists of two parts. One can find several bookshelves and a map table in the bigger one and secret scrolls in the other. A wooden spiral staircase is leading down to the lower level.

8. Vine cellar

Moldy walls and a wide door surround huge barrels of wine standing on legs for stability.

9. Pantry

Huge amounts of food are piled up in crates and cases later to be lowered with a pulley. (another access to the lower level)

II. Northern part of the dungeon

Guards live and dwell here.

10. Lieutenant’s room

Leader of the guards live here among neat furniture: king-size bed, writing desk, wardrobe, and a closed-up area for personal items.

11. Sleeping quarters

A run-down sleeping area with bunk beds for the guards.

12. Toilet

Not without its flaws, but hey - it’s got a door.

13. Gym room

It is full of old-style dumbbells, barbells, and ropes

14. Training room

A room for combat practice with scarecrow-like targets, sacks, stools, weapon racks, and armor.

15. Weapon-room

Full of weapons in racks.

16. Smithy

With forge, vats, tools, and hammer.

17. Chow hall

Benches, tables, tubs, and plates.

18. Kitchen

Furnace, fireplace, pots, and pans. A shaft for glop leading down.

19. Well

It can be reached from the kitchen. It leads down to the lower level, too.

20. Monster cages

A cage to keep wild beasts

21. Kennel

A special area for guard dogs with leashes, chains, cages, and dog plates.

You have no idea how many hours I spent on this but it feels so good to look at the result, I hope you will like it too! :)

Thank you for your continued support, get ready for the exciting lower levels coming in September, and share your thoughts below!

Yo this is like... Legendary tier! All these maps are amazing, but good lord can you tell the improvement being made each time and how beautifully they all come together! Thank you for providing such beauty and giving us something beautiful to give back to our players!

Thanks for this. Your design is giving me inspiration for other modular dungeons.

Awesome work. Definitely going to use. Can't wait for the deeper Dungeon! Question. Do you have the Dungeon Key as a file to download rather than copy/pasting from notes?

Question... Has anyone had any luck loading these amazing WEBM or MP4 maps into Roll20? Or another VTT?

Einjuden

Excellent work. Glad to see some inside dungeon work from you again. Might I ask if you've ever thought again about a red rock palace entrance built into the side of a canyon wall (IE something like --- Al Khazneh - Petra, Jordan)? I still think that would be an excellent entrance for a Desert/Canyon adventure. Anyway, awesome job on this map.
