I actually didn't end up recording that much, towards the end of the night there was a guy who had some kind of psychotic breakdown and started throwing art off the walls.

The Hive Gallery is the gallery that I have a residency space at. I'll probably do another tour sometime because it's a really big bustling place. This was during their Clown Themed show.

The Hive opened in 2005 and is a super unique place. there's two gallery spaces in the front. they have new openings every month, usually about 5 featured artists and an open call group show with sometimes a hundred different artists. Then there is a large space of residency areas where practicing artists, such as myself, have spaces to display and sell their work. Upstairs there are studio spaces artists can rent.

The Gallery shows are very classy affairs which showcase some of the finest artists in the dark art/pop surrealism/ new contemporary type of art space.

The group shows are spaces where anyone can show their work. Generally there is a theme they are looking for. But it really is for anyone.

The residency spaces provide a space for artists to sell their work. But, at least for me, the space is really about just having a physical location for people to see my art in person. Plus it encourages mingling, and as cheesy as it sounds, idea sharing with other artists.

The hive hosts different art events, like figure drawing, painting, sculpting nights, as well as film screenings and other events that make it more than a gallery. It's more like an artist community with a very nice gallery in the front. It's truly a gem in Los Angeles if you ever visit.

This place looks like a trip. Def on my list the next time I'm in LA. Tag yourselves - I'm the moment the guy in clown makeup thought his picture was being taken, so he smiled.. but then he remembered he was a sad clown so he frowned extra hard.
