Just released a new version to the test site! The general changes are listed below:

Docx uploading! This one was huge!! Now we can accept pdf, AND docx files and they'll be converted to pdf when stored. Very excited about that.

Dashboard customization: You can now customize what shows on the dashboard! This includes whether or not to show the general popular stories and recent uploads, as well as picking up to 3 expansion categories to show their most recent uploads, as well as any recent uploads by authors you're following. It's very dynamic.

Admin features: This was most of this month's work. It adds functionality for admins to manage users and manage reported comments and stories. This includes things like being able to make other users admins, banning or unbanning, gifting premium access, setting a site-wide alert banner, sending notifications to specific users, and approving or denying various reports. 99% of users will never see any of this UI. I imagine I will be the only one who does for a while, but I could see myself bringing on a few more admins if things get busy.

Reporting: You can now report comments for policy violations and harassment.

Karma: I've added a karma system called 'cup size' to user accounts. This is a background metric that increases as you use the site. The more you contribute, the higher it goes. Really the only way it can go down is if something of yours gets reported and an admin accepts it as valid. Right now this has no graphical component, but I could see us tying an image to it to show a real size.

Hardware: The server box has been pushed out to the end of May, unfortunately. But it is still on the way.

Nice! Is there a dynamic graphic for the "cup size" karma yet?

beengineer

Not yet, but some day soon. Not sure where I would display it anyways, outside of the author page

Mr. Animo

Cool. Yeah, that would be the ideal place, displays a little animation that grows until it reaches your current cupsize. Would be pre-tty cool

Maybe it's just me, but I've found the site to be completely unusable for one simple reason : the story viewer embedded in the site gets visually corrupted after just a page or two of reading. This seems to happen on both mobile Chrome (Android) and "request desktop version" of the same site: https://imgur.com/a/Mtns3xk

That was the first thing I tried. No luck. If the site had an option to directly download the PDF itself, that would be a good workaround. My hunch is the reader itself is what's fucked, not the actual source file.

Could be due to the chunking the reader is doing so it doesn't have to bring down the file all at once. I'll take a look

Strangely this only seems to happen on SOME android devices on chrome. It occurs on my Pixel on chrome, but not on firefox on the same phone.
