Fanart Requests + Art School Accountability (Patreon)

Hi everyone! At the top you can find the results of this year's Fanart Requests! Bruce and Mickey from Spiritfarer, the warrior from Dicey Dungeons, a Goron from Zelda, Lavenza from Persona 5 and Spyro the Dragon! Thanks so much for giving me such an interesting variety of characters to draw :) I love how all of them have such bold shapes with interesting details, it was really fun to study them closely. 

As I mentioned before, these are just the sketches because I want to spend a lot more time studying some specific colouring styles in detail, so you may see them again soon!

Now onto the DIY Art Degree Accountability

Ok so a few things happened this month.

1. I got majorly burnt out on some unrelated adulting and I was a bit short on energy

2. I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't translate my painting learnings to illustration/comics (my intended target)

and

3. I was struggling to finish the thumbnails for Good Bones, my next comic project, which is the intended "mid term exam" of this project. 

So, I stopped doing studies for a minute. I still think the kind of studies I was doing are really valuable and I will probably go back to them, but I needed to change tactics.

I gathered a bunch of resources. A bunch of illustrations that I like and I want to study more closely to figure out why I like them...

...and a bunch of illustrations that I'd actually like to colour style test because I think they might be a fit for my drawing style. 

This is not particularly exciting work but it did take a surprising amount of thought and time so that's what I'm reporting 😅

With all of that done I started in on studies again:

And I also knuckled down and finished the Good Bones v2 thumbnails. HOORAY. Now I can move into pencilling!!!

I'll go into this all in a bit more detail tomorrow for the Lab Techs :)
