Patrick - Excelsior

One of my favorite episodes of the series. Stand out performances by almost everyone. Love how Rosalee, who is usually very kind and gentle, has turned so fierce when Monroe is in danger. Nick, who always says he has to stay within the law, throwing his badge on desk saying this in the way. The captain, basically turning Nick loose on not only the cop but the cop's sister. telling the cop Nick will kill his sister. That's dark. Wu not hesitating to help even though he barely knows Monroe. Bud, even though he is terrified, stands up for Nick and defends Monroe at the tribunal knowing they will kill him for it. Hank and Juliette helping in any way they can. I like how whenever they need to get someone used to seeing a vogue they always start with Bud. Yes, I get what you mean about the Power Walk scene with them all together being a Buffy moment. I was waiting to hear them sing “We will walk thru the fire.” Monroe’s speech about the purity of his love for Rosalee was very sweet. Not surprising there are only men present at tribunal. Racist groups are often misogynistic too. Renard lifting that guy off the ground one handed and then the camera cut away as we hear wet cracking noises was awesome. Especially topped off with Hank watching and saying “Damn”. Holy crap, I knew Juliette was going to vogue but screaming the dudes brains out was a surprise. The scene near end with Monroe, Rosalee and Bud thanking everyone was very touching. Loved the joke with the police escort of the couple to the airport … and beyond??? lol I don’t know how I feel about Juliette telling Renard before Nick. Especially with those two having the obsession thing in the past. Seems a little sus to me.

2023-04-14 23:28:28 This episode has Bud's finest moment, where he becomes even more incoherent than usual when they try to get him to witness against Monroe, but when they ask him about Nick, he suddenly for the first time on show, becomes very direct, very clear, and very brave. It just cements his position as my second favorite character on the show. Also, Vesen can only see Grimms when they Woge, and the officer has never Woged around Nick, so that's why he didn't know he was back as a Grimm.

EDIT: Okay, I just confirmed this just now, but the Wolfsangel symbol the Wesenrein use, actually WAS a nazi symbol and is still sometimes used by neo Nazis. So it's a a deliberate link to the nazis and in unverse probably means that that Wesenrein was part of the nazi party (as Hitler was already revealed to be a Wesen in an earlier episode.)

It's not a coincidence that scene where all the characters assembled reminded you of Buffy as the showrunners worked on Buffy and Angel. So, they probably had a lot of fun with that shot. Anyway this episode had a lot of wonderful moments. Bud stepping up for Monroe and backing up Nick was really sweet. Bud was almost like a little brother telling the bullies that his big brother was going to come and beat them up which of course he did. Monroe and Rosalee are the best couple and really make the show for me. And then there's Juliet. As cool as her fight scene was, it kinda worries me too. Rosalee says her type of hexenbiest are more dangerous than the usual. And she chooses to go to Renard instead of Nick? I don't like it.
