Purple man makes a guest appearance in Jessica’s dreams. Yeah, she’s losing it a bit but I can’t blame her. She’s had it rough. I don’t think they could have had him in this season earlier, she had to go through all this get get to the point that she starts losing it enough to see him haunting her. Well at least her mom got a better guard. I like that they didn’t portray all the prison guards as sadistic evil creeps. It sucks she ended up getting hurt/killed in mom rage. As unpleasant as it is, they are doing a good job showing how an addict justifies their betrayal of loved ones as being in everyone’s best interest. If they can just get what they need everything will be alright. I think the doctor was reluctant to help Trish at first, but as he was pushed into it, he started believing her bullcrap about his experiments helping humanity and his obsession with his experiments takes over. This season seems to have an obsession theme. Trish’s obsession with becoming more powerful, because she was used so much as a child. Jessica’s mom obsession with her, the last of her dead family. Power Ranger’s obsession with helping women (first Jessica then Trish) maybe because of his feelings of betrayal due to his forced aiding of Killgrave. The IGH doctor’s obsession with his experiments and later Jessica’s mom. Hogarth obsessed with finding a cure for her ALS. Even the crappy other private eye that developed an obsession with destroying Jessica. In each case the obsession is their downfall.

Unpopular opinion, I actually like this season's story arc. This whole season has been the start of Trish's downfall. She just wants to be a powered hero. But I did LOL when you were mocking Trish! "Wahhh I want powers!" lol

When watching the season the first time, I had the same feelings toward Trish as you did. But after rewatching the series, I started to understand her position more. I still don't condone what she did, I just am not hating her like I was. If anything, I pity her. Her whole life, she has been abused by her mother and film makers. She has always had to rely on Jessica to save her; from her mom, Kilgrave, even drugs. The two defining traits of Trish is to help people and to never have someone else save her and become a liability. Then, in season 1, even after all the self defense training she goes through, she is still treated like a victim to Kilgrave and hinders Jessica on occasions because of their connection. She wants to help people, and sees the power Jessica has and what she could do with it besides be a P.I. After taking Simpson's drug to help, she becomes addicted to the power; the drugs altered her brain chemistry as drugs do, especially to a recovery addict like Trish. Her withdrawal and desire to help drove her insane that she can't see she's become the very villain she wants to fight. It is tragic and I do sympathize with her now.
