I haven't seen the current episode but I have to admit that I don't like the replicators. we've always been told how dangerous and technologically advanced they are, but most of what we've seen of them so far has been pretty boring most of the time.

Mark Chrisco

An interesting question by Shan: Why do the Asgard always come to SG-1 for help? The answer may be that from the beginning, they have been bringing the humans along as the 5th Race. Offering encouragement and mentoring but not outright helping, letting them stumble and grow into their full potential.

Daniel

The replicators are fast-learning machines. If the Asgard contact an advanced race to assist them, there is a possibility that the replicators grow even more advanced by learning from the technology that are being used against them. Thor states that the reason they contact Earth all the time is because Earth is not as technologically advanced and Earth's primitive technology is not something the replicators would expect. The replicators always become more advanced when they encounter new technology. As soon as they gained access to the time-dilation device that was meant to trap them, they disabled it, studied it and were even able reverse its effect so that time was passing quickly rather than slowly. Perhaps the biggest advancement was when they encountered the android Reese. By studying her, they were able to create human-form replicators without some of the flaws of Reese. Not even our weapons were effective against them anymore whereas Reese was killed with a single shot.

Daniel

It is difficult to say whether SG-1 did the right thing. On one hand, you have a sweet, wholesome replicator that you just betrayed and left trapped with the others and someone that you could have used to perhaps defeat the other replicators. On the other hand, It was established that the human-form replicators are all connected and can communicate with each other and read each other's minds even from a distance which is how First knew SG-1 was escaping and that Fifth helped them. This is obviously a security risk. There is also the concern of creating another Reese situation where he creates more replicators. Only this time the replicators would be within our own galaxy and we simply can't risk the replicators getting a foothold within the milky way. Taking out the replicators within our galaxy would be an impossible task. The Goa'ulds are already hard enough. Regardless of where you stand, I think we can all agree that it was sad seeing what they did to Fifth. If Daniel was there, he would have gone off on Jack just like he did when Jack shot and killed Reese. Also, I love how we just watched a two-parter but both parts were independent stories that had nothing to do with each other lol. One story just led to the other.

This. Betraying Fifth was absolutely morally and ethically the wrong thing to do, which is why most people have the same “idk about this” reaction to it. On the other hand, tactically, it was the only choice you could go with, since any reactive replicator is capable of initiating the same grey goo scenario that all the current replicators are running as their primary directive. First even says the only reason they weren’t killed was because they were seeking easy-access planets to target when they shut down the field. Fifth is at the end of the day, still a replicator, and still operating by the same directives as the rest of the reps, who says that primary command doesn’t overrule the “friendly robot” routine if he encounters something actually worth replicating off of? Not to mention, bringing single block-replicator back is incredibly dangerous, and has already escalated to a universe-consuming threat (Reese making the first one). Taking fifth runs that whole risk again, with the added caveat that he is completely impervious to **literally everything**. Projectile weapons were the only thing that even marginally slowed them down, now they’re completely useless against the human-form iteration, and the nanoform ones have already replicated the new form 5x with a 6th rolling off the line mid-episode. Way too risky

I don't know if Daniel would have been completely against this. They weren't killing these replicators. They basically put them in their own world where they can continue to live. We see them frozen in time, but that's just because time outside the bubble is moving so much faster. Daniel would have been against it and would have been as sad as Carter, but he's a scientist. He would have possibly seen it as the best option. They better figure out how to defeat the replicators before they escape, though, because they just made a powerful enemy mad.

1. I suppose the point of having O'neill being taken over by a Tok'ra WAS to save his life.. But perhaps also to give RDA some time off to heal his injury ...I think it worked out ok.. I mean.. We got a Daniel episode out of it that I really liked.. So I'm ok with that 2. Nah... The G.D.O. doesn't just have a single button on it that you press to open the SGC's iris... That'd be fucking stupid ...It was just really bad writing... Steal all the G.D.O's you want... You'll still need the actual code to open the iris (which according to 6x12 consists of 9 digits) 3. Soooo... This Tok'ra queen sure looks different from the one we've seen before... The one we saw back in Season 1.. Y'know... The Goa'uld queen that took over the SGC ...Turned O'neill into a Jaffa for an episode and enslaved all the men on the base ...Looks like the Tok'ra got the short end of the stick when it comes to appearance ...Not that I'd call Hathor a looker... But still 4. No.. There wasn't a "failed blending" between Kanan and O'neill ....There was NO. blending between them ...So what Teal'c is stating here about a failed blending killing both parties doesn't apply to O'neill and Kanan 5. This miracle drug (Tretonin) sadly couldn't be of further use to us... And yes it seems to happen a lot that we encounter technology that we won't be able to use ....But as you have seen from the next episode (6x11) there IS. advancement being made.. Some technology DOES. come to good use... We won't always see it happen on screen.. But we've come a very long way since Season 1 6. The SGC fucked up on this one ...Hammond says their policy is to deny everything... By sending Major Davis they gave away the clear message that the reporter was on to something ...The reporter saw right through their bullshit.. If only they'd have actually kept to their policy then Prometheus would've still been a secret 7. Yeaaahhh nooo.. I completely agree with you Froots.... This dude is talking about a world exclusive and how they'll sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement ...And you're right.. Stuff still gets leaked ...I've signed NDA's before... I mean.. Ofcourse not on this magnitude.. For me it was for playing closed beta's and knowing about certain computer products that hadn't hit the market yet ...I kept that shit a secret cause I'm good at keeping things secret if I have to.. But sadly the world is FULL. of people who can't be trusted and who will spill any secret information to anyone who is interested ...So yeah.. This guy ...This "News" Guy... Saying he'll sign an NDA.. Naw bish... The SGC is stupid for giving anyone access to this information 8. O'neill's statement that revealing information about Prometheus would be a bad idea... Is actually more of a statement coming from Richard Dean Anderson himself... Apparently when he read the script to 6x11.. As an executive producer on the show he had a bunch of notes.. He seemingly was against the premise of the episode that a group of civilians could steal a highly classified ship... According to Joseph Mallozzi.. The script was rewritten so that it wouldn't be O'neills fault that this happened.. A scene later on where O'neill is cussing at Major Davis for letting the bad guys on to the Prometheus.. Joseph said Richard Dean Anderson may have well been channeling himself in that performance 9. So as far as you've currently seen.. Prometheus has survived 2 episodes ...It's already doing better than anything else we've had in our possession before.. This one might be sticking around for a while *fingers crossed* 10. I mean... They just stated that blowing up the hyperdrive would create a "giant smoking crater where Nevada used to be" ...An explosion that size would be felt world-wide and most likely end all life on Earth ....I'mma bet your entire supply worth of Pepsi that they're bluffing 11. HA! You're not wrong.. This was the 2nd time we saw someone get vented out into space this week... And they both deserved it.. Go float yourself.. Indeed. 12. How awkward would it have been if the Asgard beaming onto the Prometheus WASN'T Thor? ...I mean... They DO all look alike ...The only thing we really have to go on is their voice.. And sometimes people sound the same 13. I'll say it again.. The theme you heard while Prometheus took off was NOT. the Atlantis theme.. You've heard the Atlantis theme before while we played games and listened to my playlist.. I promise you... The one in 6x11 wasn't it 14. The humour is good in 6x12... O'neill wanting to call the ship The Enterprise... Teal'c being possessive over his chocolate ice-cream (I know another person who does the same) and Thor attempting to be hip to Earth jokes by saying "We can only hope that this will be the last foot-wear to fall" after O'neill mentions waiting for "the other shoe" to drop 15. I suppose The Asgard come to us cause we're able to help... They've often said we're primitive which in a weird way gives us an advantage cause we think a different way.. We come up with ideas that The Asgard wouldn't come up with ....And as far as going to their other allies for help ...The Nox are pacifists.. They wouldn't attack anything not even a Lego Monster ....We don't know about The Furlings and as far as The Asgard themselves said during The Fifth Race "The Ancients moved on from our region of space a long time ago" so they're not around ...Which leaves us.. The very young to clean up the mess 16. Yeeeaah.. I don't really agree with the decision to double cross Fifth ...I suppose O'neill just doesn't trust him ...And perhaps he's right... Fifth is still a Lego Monster after all.. O'neill made the same decision when it came to Reese a.k.a. Cecile ..Perhaps by trusting Fifth.. The war could have ended ...I guess we'll never know
