Jay Garrick's appearance was known from pretty much the start of the season. There was a lot of hype about it. John Wesley Shipp, to his credit, spoke a lot about it and told people they should watch the whole season because the show was great and not just tune in for his guest appearance. He really seemed to enjoy and show, love being part of it, and wanted other people to not just watch it for him. Since this episode was all about Bruce Gordon in a way, I've always assumed that the Bruce for the Eclipso uses is what Bruce Gordon looked like as a child. It makes sense, but it might not be the case. Speaking of Eclipso, he's smart and persistent. Can't go directly after Courtney, so targets her family instead. My interpretation is that he was isolating Pat from Mike and Barbara in order to go after Pat and make him confess what he had been hiding, so he seems to have no other goal when going after the other two other than keeping them where they are. And while he does succeed, he only does so because Pat was hiding the truth in the first place, so I can't really lay the blame on that on Eclipso. He merely caused it to come out faster, but he couldn't have done that if it wasn't been kept a secret already.

And with this the new JSA is officially broken. Personally Jay's appearance this episode has always been the highlight for me but seeing what all went down to cause the disbanding of the JSA is truly heartbreaking. The fact that the JSA was basically only defeated in 2010 because they corrupted their values to take down Eclipso years prior, falling apart in the process is the most poignant way to explain why superheroes should stick to their morals. It's also pretty striking that despite voting against his murder, the death of Bruce Gordon still lies heavily on Pat's consciousness. Eclipso being able to take Courtney out of the game without ever actively targeting her is pretty damn impressive. I always appreciate it when a villain can very competently scheme their way to success. Same reason I really like Reverse Flash. Overall an amazing episode.

Jay Garrick's appearance was announce pretty early in the season and from a interview from the actor himself he said it's the same Jay from the flash So eclipso pretty much broke the old JSA and now the new JSA He was pretty much a smart villain he knew he couldn't go after Courtney because of the staff so he decided to go after her family instead I kinda like that we see flashback to the old JSA and saw how they dealt with eclipso back in the day but since he out find a new way to beat him Well eclipso finally got what he wanted make sure Courtney family is broken and make Courtney Bond with Pat weaker because I think that's her strength having a strong connection with Pat Overall I love this episode can't wait to see more of your reactions
