I can understand that Klaus's appearance felt like that to you, but for me, this was essentially what I wanted out of a cameo from him. Joesph didn't want to return as Klaus because he felt like any appearance would cheapen his character's sacrifice. I disagreed. While him being brought back to life or as a flashback to his evil days would have ruined it, I believed having him appear as a ghost in the background, smiling at Hope as she's finally made peace with herself before finally ascending to peace would've been the perfect closure for Klaus. Then we see Hope turn around, feeling someone's presence, but she doesn't see Klaus himself. So, this felt like the next best thing; Hope didn't need to see Klaus himself, because this makes more emotional to know that Hope can't see her Dad, but keeps his memory and wisdom with her.

It was still Hope's choice to turn her humanity back on. The pendant just helped Hope hear her inner voice. I'm with you on the Josie and Penelope head-canon. Those two should have ended up together. I was happy with the Klaus scene. His story was already perfectly wrapped up, so we didn't need more from him. If anything, Hayley is Hope's parent that needed a better ending. A better sendoff. She would have been a perfect person to have in this episode. Too bad the actress wants nothing to do with this universe anymore.

She was so against her character being used that she made them crop a photo that had her in it in season 1 of this show. That's why we have never seen a photo or had any stories about her.
