Wow yeah, I knew this movie was bad but after this rewatch, it was worse than I remember. This was not canon to the show. There are only a few things that actually made it into the series. Of course, Buffy's name and that she went to LA. Plus, they mention the watcher named Merrick. There was even another actor playing him in a flashback (Becoming Part 1). There was a comic called The Origin which retells the events, making it canon to the show and putting the final nail in the coffin for this movie, because Joss really hated it! Also, the vampire that had the over the top death scene was played by Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, which is why they gave him such a comedic bit. For fans of his, it's really funny but otherwise, it comes off as you described, just like ok WTF. I'm glad you've come full circle with Buffy. It was because of this movie that I was so hesitant to watch the series but then I heard that it was completely different and it ended up being my all time favorite show.

Zoot!

This was very very close to being a pilot pick :) Yay!

Don't take this the wrong way, but I have no intention in watching this reaction. I saw this movie a long time ago and swore to myself that I will never watch it again due to how bad it is. No offence HAHAHAHA.

Candy Clark was there at the top of the credits because at the time she was extremely famous. Being born in the 90's Shan you missed out on the early 90's fashion/movies and music. Primary colors were huge in the early-mid 90's yellows, blues, greens etc. As for the movie, I actually like this movie because this came out towards the end of the B-grade horror movie era, they were all very campy. A couple of the biggest tropes in this era was that all cheerleaders were completely massive air-heads and Joss took this to the max. And if a pair of characters make out or have sex they were going to die, the good ole days. Some actors that I'm not completely sure you noticed or know that were in this movie, Hilary Swank(Million Dollar Baby and a number of award winning movies) was one of the friends, David Arquette (Scream movies) and Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman) was the main vampire. Donald Sutherland (the watcher) who is a legendary actor who is also the father of Kiefer Sutherland (tv series -24)

I should also note this came out 5 years before the series so everything got changed really the only things that were kept completely the same was she was a cheerleader, and her name was buffy. Also vampires were always able to fly from the earliest of stories, Bram stoker he could turn into a bat, Lost Boys they could all fly, Buffy was actually one of the first that vampires couldn't fly. I am also going to say Buffy is not the best Vampire series to be ever made sorry Shan, that goes to Forever Knight which I hope some day you will get to see.

Actually Pee-Wee wasn't the main vampire, he was the main vampire's right-hand man. No pun intended.
