I enjoy all timetravel stories so I enjoyed this episode :) Also I didn't interpret that scene as Nora reliving the deaths I interpreted that as her trying several times

Andrew Polinski

The last sequence was this, they were slowing her down so that she would only just barely reverse time, first by grabbing Ralph arm and get dragged a little, then through Frost Ice because it has been shown in the past that cold slows down speedsters and Frost doesn't need to go extremely cold just enough to slow her down as she passes through then finally going through Cisco's breach so she can get to where she needs to go without increasing her speed again.

The episode was fine, not the best timeloop I've seen in sci-fi cinema\tv, but not the worst either. I always interpreted it like, if Nora didn't screw up 52 times, she wouldn't have 52 entries into the journal, so the team wouldn't have all that data and wouldn't have come up with this "perfect plan" to stop Cicada.......but him flying away again is laughable.....but I always assumed, that someone was "destined" to die, and the only reason they changed fate is because of how many variations Nora experienced and how much details she noted, it's like speedrun\no damage video games playthroughs, people do it so many times, they know all the steps to take to be perfect. Also, with so many journal entries, Sherloque progressed with the case and that's where Barry's lesson about consequences of the time travel come in, if she wouldn't do it 52 times, he might've not had enough data!!! Also, Nora flipped Ralph's files in different times, so Cisco saw a picture of a different guy with Kamilla, that's why he dressed and behaved differently)))

I hope Grant Gustin enjoyed his honeymoon while Barry took the episode off. lol

They wrote that it happened 52 times simply because the writers are obsessed with the number 52. If you know, you know.

Yeah, they didn't really do the groundhog concept well. The problem was the catalyst was Nora and she is wet behind the ears as far as understanding how her powers really work, particularly time travel and the consequences. BTW, have you ever actually seen the movie Groundhog Day? I think I heard that you didn't but I'm not sure.

I’m writing this midway through the episode so if I am wrong then I stand corrected but, I think this episode would be so much more interesting if it followed anyone else but Nora. The whole Groundhog Day theme fell flat since it was sort of incoherent and the whole boomerang dagger thing is just silly. Why not set a trap at Iris’s office or on the roof where you know Cicada will be or something you know? Do something different instead just keeping everyone at Star Labs. That doesn’t solve anything since she isn’t stopping cicada from going to Iris’s office or whatever that place is. Nora is a very bad decision maker so it sort of makes sense that she would know what to do in this situation. But I feel like Nora is smart enough to actually use the knowledge she has from the previous days, or time loops, and try different scenarios. She didn’t do a single thing except keep the person that was previously captured by Cicada and keep them at star labs. Edit: I agree with everything you said at the end. The final timeloop was so anti-climatic, all that build up for a puny little shove and for him to just fly away. The bad writing is letting this season down so much. Obviously you don’t want the big bad to be defeated after the first or second encounter, but what is the the 4th time he’s just flown away. It’s laughable how the writers and show runners thought this was good. Not the absolute worst episode, but it still frustrates me because this episode had so much potential but was just executed so poorly to me.

David Brown

The slow motion at the end may not have been to make the sequence seem epic, but it may have been to let the audience carefully see just what is happening and hopefully follow along and understand just what the team is doing. Maybe. Even though some still might not quite understand.

Flashverse Media

The reason why thawne wants to help Nora save Barry is because if there’s no flash there’s no reverse flash

Patrick - Excelsior

I did like one thing about this Ground Hog day. They reversed it from the typical orientation. In all the examples you gave, they were trapped in the loop, they tried different actions until they figured which one would stop the loop. In this one they they wanted the loops. They were trying to stop an action (someone dying). so they tried different loops until they found one that stopped that action from happening. I liked that switch up. Its just a shame they did it so poorly. The thing I really don't get why does Nora see the previous version of Nora when she goes back in time. Each time Barry went back to save his mom he saw the other versions of himself that went there. When Nora goes back there should already be a Nora there. By her account there should be 53 Nora time remnants in Star labs.

Zach Hershman

Nora's ability actually reverses time. She isn't technically time traveling in the sense we normally think. She is literally hitting reverse. *It's time travel on The Flash. It's best not to question it as it will just make your head hurt.

Fun fact. This episode aired 26 years to the day after Groundhog Day came out.
