I can explain how Iris came up with the idea... loosely. So the only people who knew about the quark sphere are Cisco, Caitlin, Joe, Iris and probably Harry. Jesse came up with the idea but after they had talked to everyone else so the only person left was Iris and Joe and Joe wouldn’t have figured it out. My point being it wasn’t only Iris that could have figured it out but she was the only one left who could. As for how did she know, Shan’s example of a partner doing an activity is great; however, this application is a bit different. Sure if you around a person for a few hours every so often you probably won’t get too interested in the details of what they are actually doing but as far as we know, this is Iris’s full time job that she goes to for many hours per day. So after 50-60 hours per week for 2-3 years surrounded by super smart people, you can probably engage more with learning what they are doing. Also after Barry basically said “to solve it I need more lightning .” It’s not too much of a jump for her to go “well if you need lightning, what about the massive lightning storm that kidnapped my husband 6 months ago” Jay Garrick probably could have made the connection but he didn’t know about the sphere. But I also agree with Shan that it is a bit convenient that Iris was the only one to figure it out, I’m just playing devils advocate

First time re-watching this ep. Just noticed they didn't even try to paint out the floor marks that Grant needed to hit for the speedforce throw stunt. Lol.

I do enjoy this episode too and one of my favorite things is that the text for earlier on is counting down the seconds :) And yeah I totally get what you mean by revelations vs figuring it out beforehand, even so it was fun to hear your theories

This is widely regarded as probably the best episode of the season. In any case, it is wild that most of the episode took place in the 1 second of Flashtime that occurred after the bomb began to explode. We saw a little bit of this in 4x10 when Barry convinced Iris in court not to reveal his real identity.

The lesson of 'Barry going back in time and changing stuff is wrong and he should never ever do it again' has been beaten into Care Bear so much that he's not doing in anymore, and I find it's actually great that the show is sticking to it and the characters are learning from past experiences........I ceartanly don't need another Savitar And way to diminish Iris, Shan. Like Wyatt said, only select people knew about the sphere, it's not super complicated to get your head around it. Jay suggested throwing lightning only after they tried Cisco, Harry and Cait, they all were spent and were 'frozen' in time again, so there's only Joe and Iris left who knew about the sphere. And it makes sense that after trying everything, Barry would want to spent his last moments with his wife, that's why he 'unfroze' her. And he mentioned lightning, she remembered lightning storm. It's not that complicated, you don't have to be a supersmart scientist to figure it out)

This is a very fun episode, but yeah, they could've just tossed the bomb into the Speed Force and it would have been OK. The Speed Force is an infinite field of energy that separates the physical worlds of the multiverse from Sphere of the Gods. Throwing a single fission bomb into it would have no more effect on it than dropping a single water molecule into the ocean, probably even less actually.
