Made me laugh out loud in the beginning where you argued against the character due to another character actions in another show :) Love it when you do that :)

The thing about Ruby is that while she is supposed to be 12 years old the character is often written as if she is much younger than that. It creates a weird inconsistency in her characterization that is very noticeable when it happens. IMO, Ruby is not a bad character but she is written rather poorly so it is very easy to find her annoying.

Lol that’s like every kid character on TV TBF. There’s quite a few likable ones but like unless the show is centered around a kid for some reason writers tend to just write kids to be hella annoying. Kinda gives off the impression that this is how they view kids to be.

Wise words Mr. Kevin Tran, in tv shows kids are either written to act like they're 5 or younger or they're adults in children's bodies. I don't know if it's specifically intended as an insult but more falls in line with can't remember what being a kid was like. As ridiculous as this might sound I think films and tv should get younger consultants to run their dialogue by, or hell ask the actor whos playing the part. What It may also be is they want a young child but don't want to deal with child acting laws (I'm not sure all the details so I may be wrong here) where child actors under a certain age can't work a certain amount of hours or past a certain time.

Kevin Tran

No you’re absolutely right. They can’t have kids around for so many hours. They’re required to have a set amount of hours in school if not then the studio has to pay for a private tutor to educate them. It’s just hard to work around child labor laws (Which are a good thing don’t get me wrong) but it limits the story they want to tell with children as well. I also get the impression there’s a lot of depressed asf writers in Hollywood that just hate children I don’t know.
